We are very excited about this year’s Texas Photo Roundup, the biggest commercial and editorial photography related event in Texas featuring three days of workshops, panels, talks and parties! The program is packed and the event is growing bigger each year.
As we said, the 3 day program is packed and one of the most outstanding workshops is Andy Anderson‘s 2 day workshop titled “Keeping your Personal Vision Under the Demands of a Commercial Market” (27th and 28th February).
The goal is to show photographers how to stay true to one’s own personal style in the face of a commercial assignment where photo editors, art directors or account planners are all focusing on their objectives for a shoot.
The program will start by shooting an assignment that lets the participants’ personal style shine, then move onto a commercial job setting where they will be challenged to show their own personal take on a not-so-glamorous commercial subject.
Andy Anderson began his photography career as the first staff photographer for Men’s Journal and currently shoots for some of the biggest and best advertising agencies in the world on brands such as Adidas, Asics, The US Army and Marines, Diner’s Club International, Dodge RAM, Emirates Air, Barbados Tourism, Fiji Tourism, GoRV, Harley Davidson, Hummer, Kodak, Liberty Mutual, Hyatt, Nike, Verizon, Visa, Western Union and numerous state tourism campaigns. His editorial clients include Outside, Stern,Audubon, Condé Nast Traveler, Town and Country and was instumental with Garden and Gun magazine success as the first contributing photographer. Also was one the 9 photographers of the RAM-GOD CREATED A FARMER Super Bowl Commercial in 2013.
We are also very excited about Larry Fink‘s keynote and book signing on the second day of the Roundup, on 28th February. With over 45 years experience, and equal renown in the commercial, editorial, and fine art spheres, Fink is truly one of the living legends of photography.
Fink has won numerous awards throughout his illustrious career (including two Guggenheim and two NEA Fellowships), his work is collected in major art museums in the US and abroad (Museum of Modern Art, the Whitney Museum of Modern Art, the San Francisco Museum of Art, the Musee de la Lausanne Photographie in Belgium, and the Musee de l’Elysee in Switzerland, amongst others), and he has been the subject of at least ten books, with more to come. Fink’s commercial work includes advertising campaigns for Smirnoff, Bacardi, and Cunard Lines (Q.E.2), and his work has appeared in top publications such as Vanity Fair, W, GQ, Detour, The New York Times Magazine, and The New Yorker.
