Karl Kramer was born in Nuremberg where he was raised by his grandmother. After an apprenticeship with television manufacturer Grundig, Karl graduated from high school in Theatrical Art and Philosophy, American Language and History.
In 1978 he went to New York to start modeling. When Karl returned to Europe to continue as a professional fashion model he worked for a solid decade in Milano, Barcelona, London, Paris and New York for Italian and French designers like Ferre and Kenzo as well as sports and industry giants Adidas and Puma.
He then went ’round the camera to pick up his passion for photography. He shot his first jobs on the beach and in the back alleys in Miami’s Art Deco Destrict, South Beach. Karl eventually settled in Munich where he lives with his long time model and fiancée Sabine and their sausage-dog Billy.
He now shoots people and products, mixing available lamps and flash. Karl also shoots film but prefers to use the latest high-resolution digital camera and then an Apple Mac for final control and fine tuning.
