Marking the 8th year, Pink Lady® ‘Food Photographer of the Year 2019 Awards’ completed yet another successful edition in an extraordinary celebration of creativity, culture and diversity united through food photography and film. Production Paradise had the pleasure of announcing their very own ‘Production Paradise Previously Published’ category at the event.
This year’s grand announcement took place in front of an audience of four hundred guests at a magnificent Champagne Taittinger reception packed with celebrities from the food and photography world, at the Mall Galleries, London – hosted by legendary musician and cheesemaker Alex James.
“The competition was fierce,” says Caroline Kenyon, Founder and Director of the Awards, “there were 9000 images entered from 77 countries – more entries and more countries than ever before – and the standard was phenomenal.”
Chinese photographer, Jianhui Liao, was crowned the overall winner of Pink Lady® Food Photographer of the Year 2019 for his outstanding shot titled ‘Cauldron Noodles’. Jianhui was presented with the £5000 prize by Andy Macdonald, Managing Director of Pink Lady® who declared “a well-deserved winner showing villagers wearing lovely coloured clothing and head wear all enjoying their feast of noodles.”
Italian photographer Cosimo Barletta of Cucina delle Foto won 1st place in the ‘Production Paradise Previously Published’ category with a brilliant shot of ‘Red Octopus’ tag-lined ‘When you ‘release the Kraken’ on the table… you never know what will happen!’
“Cosimo’s shot stood out from the rest in its category, however, for the way in which he made the subject matter both witty and striking” added Caroline Kenyon. His image was featured on BBC news.
‘The Butcher’ by British photographer Oliver Suckling won 2nd place in the ‘Production Paradise Previously Published’ category. Fascinatingly, 3rd place was also won by Cucina delle Foto’s Mayda Mason with the ‘Orange And Blue’ photograph. you can see the finalist gallery at www.pinkladyphotographeroftheyear.com.
