    Sitges International Film Festival   film events

    The Sitges International Film Festival is "the number one fantasy film festival in the world", and presents cultural expression with the greatest media impact in Catalonia.

    With a solid experience behind it, the festival is a "stimulating universe of meetings, exhibitions, presentations and screenings" of fantasy films from all over the world.

    The festival will be kicking off its 39th edition with the premiere of El Laberinto del Fauno, by Guillermo del Toro.

    The Official Fantastic Section includes films such as: Cigarette Burns (Masters Of Horror 8) by John Carpenter, The Science Of Sleep by Michel Gondry and Time (Shigan) by Kim Ki-Duk.

    Sitges International Film Festival   film events

    This festival offers 10 different sections showing more than 200 films. Sitges 04 - Catalonia's official festival - promotes Catalan audiovisual creations like the Machinist or Febrer and is a distribution and exhibition medium for international productions.

    The festival took place from 2-11 December 2004 in Sitges, south of Barcelona.

    The Best Director Award was for Johnnie To for "Breaking News" (Hong Kong) and the Best Film Award was for "Old Boy" of Park Chan-Wook (South Corea).

    Sitges International Film Festival   film events

    The Sitges International Film Festival of Catalonia is Catalonia's primary film statement and an excellent showcase for diverse tendencies in cinema, with a special focus on "fantasy" genre. The current Sitges Festival is the evolutionary result of the International Fantasy and Horror Film Week created in 1968.

    This Festival offers 10 different sections showing more than 200 films. Sitges - Catalonia's official festival - promotes Catalan audiovisual creations and is a distribution and exhibition medium for international productions.

    Films shown in Sitges 2004 include Sky Captain and The World of Tomorrow, The Phantom of the Opera, September Tapes, Calvaire, Arséne Lupin, Izo and The Birthday.

    A Star Wars Conference will also take place during the festival. Over 5,000 people are expected to attend as well as a representation of further Star Wars actors...
