Reporting directly to the CTO, the Director will architect and deliver the technical infrastructure and applications necessary to support Lucasfilm's digital distribution strategy. Lucasfilm is building a from-scratch platform for not only traditional web (e.g., but also for social, mobile applications, casual gaming, hardcore gaming (e.g., Star Wars The Old Republic), and video distribution for all our divisions. S/he is tasked with understanding the range of business and creative needs that Lucasfilm's digital platform must serve, and designing/executing the technical strategy to deliver connected digital capabilities and offerings. S/he will be central to bringing Lucasfilm's immense and growing content to the web, and in adapting Lucasfilm's storytelling to deliver compelling stories and experiences via direct to consumer delivery as well.

• Manages all facets of online technology inclusive of build vs. buy decisions, cross-divisional technology optimization, digital content distribution (video & non-video), CRM, B.I. and Analytics, online gaming and transaction processing infrastructure
• Educates divisions and drives informed decisions on capabilities in advance of the divisional needs; develops and executes a unified online technology roadmap that accounts for the needs of all relevant divisions within Lucasfilm
• Stays current on new technologies, market developments, and thought leaders in the social web, gaming and mobile domains, integrating concepts where appropriate and bringing new knowledge to Lucasfilm
• Focuses on developing a flexible architecture that enables multiple Lucasfilm divisions to integrate on a shared central platform that integrates user experience, and aggregates user data across all online services

• Excellent people manager with both direct and indirect management responsibilities
• Exceptional communicator who leads and contributes to highly technical discussions, and can translate technical issues and considerations clearly
• Demonstrated success in planning and developing a widely used web service platform, including the ability for third party development through APIs
• Experience planning and implementing social and community tech features within a larger platform including knowledge of authentication solutions, user management features, and integration of relevant social network APIs (e.g. Facebook, OpenID, Twitter, etc.)
• Hands-on technical experience; capable of both creating and evaluating a wide variety of web technologies and infrastructure design; able to leverage past experience into the unique Lucasfilm environment
• Possesses strong business and operational senses; able to balance and address conflicting needs and timelines of multiple stakeholders
• Self-directed, detail oriented problem solver with big picture orientation
• Ability to juggle multiple projects, and deliver on strict deadlines
• Experience in engineering toolsets and best in class methodologies
Requirements Job Requirements
• 10+ years a software development/engineering experience with increasing levels of responsibility
• 7+ years of related experience in online technology
• 5+ years of managing technical staff
• 3+ years managing managers
• Undergraduate degree in Computer Science required, advanced degree or equivalent experience preferred
