Interactive Designer

Posted 4-07-2014, wanted

Sanborn Media Factory is looking for a designer who wants to be challenged in a fast-paced work environment. You have experience in creating websites that not only look clean and beautiful, but have also been thought out from a usability standpoint. You enjoy working with a small group of people and are not an asshole…seriously…there is a very strict no asshole policy here, so don’t apply if that’s you.

They Are:

A 35-person interactive shop based in New York and Los Angeles. They are designers, developers, programmers, project managers, musicians, video/motion editors and shooters. They work primarily with media properties helping to create and manage the full battery of digital media goodness (web, mobile, social, video and live events to be specific). Their wide-range of recognizable clients include AEG, DKNY, Esteé Lauder Companies, Conde Nast, LA Galaxy, Portland Trailblazers and The New Yorker. They believe passionate, talented people all working together smoothly yields awesome work that lets them come back and do it again tomorrow WITHOUT pulling 80-hour weeks, which is their one, desperately simple, goal in life.

Which brings them to you.

You Are:

A thriver of a fast-paced environment and have a “get shit done” mentality.
Intelligent. Your attitude and your aptitude will count far more than anything else, so an advanced degree from the Self-Taught School of Hard Knocks holds equal weight to a Harvard degree around these parts (and we have members of both groups in our ranks in equal measure).
A budding renaissance man/woman. You like to have your hands in several pots at once. You have interactive attention deficit disorder. You complain that there are not enough hours in the day to accomplish all that you want to achieve in the digital media realm.
You have a deep love for making things happen. You’re not ok with sitting in the shadows and letting others make decisions. YOU make the decisions and you stand by them.
A lover of the small, agile workplace. If you’ve had (or are currently at) a job with a huge, sluggish, bureaucratic, leviathan of a company where nothing ever gets done and all you face is countless waves of politics, cover-your-assery and mindless, pointless, feckless colleagues and superiors…welcome…your work will be incorporated immediately into our projects in the most visible ways and you will work side by side with talented, honest, hard-working professionals (and you can wear whatever the hell you want to work). We are actually doing consequential work, you can be a part of it, and people will guide you through that process. Downside? If your work is bad, lazy, shoddy, etc., this will be made very clear, very quickly.
A good person. Seriously…it matters. At the end of the day they’re a bunch of people sitting in a room for 8 hours a day. If you are evil, ill-tempered, disrespectful or selfish, you need not apply. This will also be made very clear, very quickly.
Have a portfolio filled with great, thoughtful work that you can share with them.
