You will work on the challenging topic of visualization of lighting products and solutions in development, so that we can replace physical prototypes with virtual ones. Rendering lighting products is much more challenging than typical product visualization. Predictive rendering of lighting products requires detailed understanding of rendering algorithms, material models, and perception. When we tackle these challenges and deploy predictive rendering in the business we can improve our development processes significantly.
•You will make predictive rendering a success both technically and in implementation.
•You will connect optical design with perception research.
•You can work together with and direct external partners to develop customized rendering solutions.
•You know about the state-of-the-art of rendering, and keep track of it day to day, and communicate about important developments.
•You can work autonomously; you can set your own track, by translating goals into plans.
You will be part of a small team in Research focusing on 3D visualization for the Lighting business. The visualization cluster is embedded in a Research group of 35 researchers focusing on experience and perception research. You will collaborate with people in Research and the businesses working on new connected, dynamic lighting solutions. We are looking for a person that:
•Has a strong background in computer graphics, such as a PhD or Masters on rendering technology.
•Has detailed understanding of the state-of-the-art rendering algorithms.
•Is aware of the offer and limitations of commercial rendering packages and solutions such as Keyshot, v-ray, Maxwell, iray, deltagen, vred.
•Has preferably experience with digitizing materials, measuring materials.
•Has programming capabilities, such as: python, C, GLSL, MATLAB.
•Has preferably affinity with optical simulations, possibly experience with optical simulation software such as Lighttools.
•Has affinity with human vision and perception.
•Has a business mindset.
