We’re a company that understands that product innovation comes from people innovation, and that’s why we invest in cultivating leaders throughout the organization. If you’re passionate about leading from where you sit, join us."
XD Studio is an internal incubator within Adobe’s Experience Design (XD) organization that employs an experience-first mindset coupled with a highly iterative, rapid prototyping process to develop new products and services. As a cross-disciplinary team of designers, developers, and product mangers, they believe in examining and evaluating ideas through the respective lenses of design, engineering, and business. Currently, they are looking for someone to represent and champion the design perspective of this trifecta.
As a qualified candidate, you will have played a crucial and leading role in designing, delivering, and launching products. Bringing a high level of creative energy and strong design intuition to the team, you challenge teammates to think big and push beyond the obvious or first idea. You operate as a natural visionary, following technical and design trends in the industry and contributing strong ideas on how to influence or capitalize on the potential of those trends. You are both opinionated and a compassionate listener, willing to dive deep to understand a problem before jumping to conclusions and knowing how to ask the right questions. And, you define personal success as making a meaningful and unique contribution to the team’s success.
The team is:
Tasked with finding new growth opportunities for Adobe, often looking beyond the boundaries of the existing business.
Passionate about tool making, and respectful of the responsibility that this practice entails.
Constantly striving to help users create something that they would not have otherwise created.
What you’ll do:
Lead a team of talented designers by:
Seeding ideas and asking the questions that will help teammates iterate towards the best solution for their particular problem domain.
Providing guidance on how to effectively prioritize design efforts.
Giving insightful and actionable feedback.
Facilitating moving past obstacles, disagreements, and tough choices encountered during the design process.
Network and evangelize for the team within the company, seeking opportunities for collaboration with research, product, and other design teams.
Provide mentorship to younger designers, i.e. giving sound guidance on design career development, connect teammates with other design professionals to provide career insight, and serve as a strong example of where they might be in the future.
What you’ll need to succeed:
Experience, appreciation, and passion for building tools and the services that support them.
Ability to make progress in the midst of uncertainty, i.e. you know how to tackle discovering and answering unknowns through design thinking, research, and talking with the right people.
Ability and willingness to design for users, products, and industries that may be unfamiliar.
Ability to work within business, organizational, and resource constraints.
Ability to negotiate situations where design intuition conflicts with user research.
Knowledge of how to take the first step, coming up with a big idea as well as the first, most important experience to build.
10+ years of design experience in software UX.
Significant mentorship and design leadership experience, either acting as design team lead or design manager.
Experience with and appreciation for building interactive prototypes, either using code or visual prototyping tools.
Experience using Adobe's existing product ecosystem, with emphasis on core design tools (Illustrator, Photoshop, After Effects, InDesign, etc.)
Experience with digital marketing tools, understanding both digital marketing and analytics problem domains.
Experience in design for massively-multitouch user interfaces, spatial gesture interfaces, voice, virtual reality, augmented reality, and other "non-standard" interface modalities.
Making Adobe´s technology accessible to all
To help achieve this, Adobe is focused on making software more accessible for everyone. When hiring for engineering, development and design roles, Adobe looks for the following accessibility skills:
Base knowledge of the W3C’s Web Content Accessibility Guidelines v2.0
Exposure to current tools used by people with disabilities (screen readers and other assistive technologies)
Experience with accessibility evaluation and validation software
Understanding of input and output modes used by people with disabilities
Familiarity with compliance requirements - state, Federal, international
