  As part of its 50th anniversary celebrations last year, Nescafe sponsored the “50 Minutes” project, in which Amenábar, Berlanga, Medem, Bigas Luna and Gonzalo Suarez mentored five new directors.

  
  For this year's edition, Barcelona's casting specialists La Ponderosa recently did the casting for one of the short films “Ace of Hearts” which will be directed by Silvia Gonzalez and is being made through production company Miss Wasabi Films.
  
  Shooting takes place on 11-12 March and the film is being mentored by Isabel Coixet who, as we reported last month, won Best Director, Best Film and Best Original Script at the Goya Awards.

  La Ponderosa has started its search for actors for the movie Eyqem, which starts shooting in Catalonia and Asturias in September.

  The film's director has a great deal of experience in the field and the plot is a mix of adventure and intrigue. 

  The main roles are being casted right now in Barcelona and Madrid.

  This year, Plató de Casting S.L. will be giving courses in two drama schools, Eolia and La Casona, both renowned for high-quality training. The programme will help a group of students about to graduate to improve their performance in front of the camera.They'll also be training students at the Francina Models Agency in publicity-focused approaches.
  
  Along side these activities, they’ll continue supplying a wide range of talent to production companies, both local and foreign. To this end, they're currently remodelling their studio to make more space, and stock the latest equipment to keep up to speed with technological advances.

  Daniel Sesé is organising the casting for Manuel Martín Cuenca’s (“La flaqueza del bolchevique”) new full-length feature film, “Malas Temporadas”. The film will be produced by Iberrota Films, and filming is due to start in March 2005.

  Casting La Ponderosa is using a new system: DVD.

  Since January 2004, La Ponderosa offers -as well as VHS, UMATIC and MiniDV- the possibility to record online castings on DVD.

  It gives a lot more possibilities to production companies: The casting can be seen online from anywhere in the world. It is cheaper and more practical than UMATIC, and it gives you better quality at the same time.

  La Ponderosa is also editing DVD with a specific menu for every character from different agencies, so they can show new material to their clients.

  Casting La Ponderosa   casting directors

  Ponderosa casts actors, models and people from the street. To cast an actor is quite easy since they know how to act in front of the camera. For models and people this is more difficult so we have to give them more time and help them to act.
  
  Sometimes during the casting there is not enough time, so we decided to offer a free casting workshop (totally free) for one local agency per month and we will start with a selection of models from OPTIONS and FRANCINA on the first of March.
