Works of national and international producers will be judged in four different sections: Short, Feature, Animation and Documentary.

About 30.000 spectators, 150 professionals from all over the world and excellent programming critiques have confirmed the necessity of a festival like l'Alternativa in the cultural environment of Catalonia and Spain.

L'Alternativa Short Fiction Award: Aspiration by Constant Mentzas (Canada).
L'Alternativa Animation Award: Son of Satan by J.J.Villard (USA).
L'Alternativa Documentary Award ex aequo: Devouring Buddha by Korbett Matthews (Cambodia/ Canada) and Poslednii srok (The Last Term) by Vladimir Eisner (Russia).
L'Alternativa Feature Film Award: Hukkle by György Pálfi (Hungary).
Filmtel Award for Best Spanish Film: Tercero B by Jose Mari Goneaga (Spain).
ASIFA Award for European Animation film: The House by Vivienne Jones (UK).

L'Alternativa - Independent Film Festival Barcelona film events
Between 14th and 22nd November 2003, Barcelona hosts for the 10th time L'Alternativa, the city's Independent Film Festival.
Over these ten years the Festival has consistently worked towards supporting filmmaking and education, and encouraged ethical and aesthetical commitment and the development of constructive criticism, reflection and personal emotions in the world of filmmaking.
Over these ten years the Festival has also firmly put itself on the map of independent film festivals, achieved a steady growth in attendance (30,000 spectators in 2002) and won the solid support of the filmmaking industry (120 accredited professionals in 2002).
