    George Kavanagh - London [UK]

George Kavanagh's powerful seascape peppered with gravestones (shot by Alex Howe) recently advertised Ghosts by idiosyncratic film-maker Nick Broomfield with much poignancy - many people keenly moved by the horrific drowning of 23 illegal Chinese cockle-pickers at Morecombe Bay, UK in 2004.

Award-winning images of the longest-ever hoarding scaffold in Dubai is a fascinating, almost abstract, collection bursting with dynamic construction on the one hand; yet, on the other hand, George is commenting on the juxtaposition of advertising massive wealth and the exploitation of the worker.

Stepping into the surreal with Canon, George's stunning new campaign, through Tequila, harks back to Magritte, compelling us to explore a slightly dark and disconcerting world....

    George Kavanagh

George Kavanagh says that 99% of all his work is location-based, 'especially conceptual location work - including putting cars into surreal settings'.

His work with clients, including HSBC, Audi and Emaar Estates, has taken him to locations throughout Europe, the Far East, Asia, New Zealand and the US.

George says his aim is always to give the Art Directors and his clients ideas that inspire them to come up with something fresh and different.

Location and people photographer George Kavanagh's images are strong and distinctive due to the way he uses lighting and filters.

This can be seen in the images presented here, from his recent ad series from his Dubai shoot for client EMAAR, via ad agency Team Y&R.

He took third place in the Professional Photographer of the Year at this year's International Color Awards.
