Welcome to SHOWCASE BARCELONA - brought to you by Production Paradise. 

With the Bread & Butter fair just over, Barcelona is in the middle of another of its big events, the 29th Grec Festival, with a wide range of international artists and performers on show until 8 August. From 21-23 August, CMYK will run at the CCCB centre. It is billed as "the only international event dedicated to the culture of independent magazines"... It just has to be Barcelona!

Production company European Productions shot the TV and print campaign for "El Corte Inglés" summer 2005 with top Brazilian model Giselle Bündchen and Spanish director Julio Lope Saguar in Isla Morada (Miami). The campaign is currently shown on TV and billboards throughout Spain.

Last month Nucleo did pictures for the campaign and brochure for the new BLS Cadillac in Barcelona and Girona with its photographer Stephan Jouhoff.

After the work for VW in Argentina, SONDA productions was in Madrid in May working on the new VW Passat campaign. Agency Grabarz und Partner chose Photographer Kai-Uwe Gundlach to give the campaign a new angle.

During May/June, Sonda was the production company chosen to produce a Secret Photo campaign for a tobacco brand in and around Barcelona.

Remembering their shoot for BMW after-sales through Barcelona, Madrid, Lisbon with photographer Simon Pushmann, Sonda present this final picture of the campaign.

Currently the SETUP production team is producing the new Luisa Cerano campaign for BSS with Nadja Auermann as Luisa Ceranos' top model.

bcn film/film associations: BARCELONA PLATó FILM COMMISSION

Barcelona Plató Film Commission has assisted 243 productions so far this year.

Between January and June, the Commission helped process shooting permits for more than 240 productions. Of these, the short film genre stands out with 74 productions, and 50 productions for television. 39 documentaries have also taken place in the city.

Of the 13 feature length films shot in the first half of the year, the most notable include:"Cuento de Navidad", "Cosas Que Pasan", "Adivina Quién Soy", "Cargo", "El triunfo of Mireia Ros" and "Tu vida En 65 minutos".

Nacho Juárez - a Spanish fashion photographer from Barcelona with a unique baroque style. With the aesthetic of some of his photos, you could imagine yourself to be in the middle of some Almodovar scene.
Oscar van de Beek - Dutch photographer who specialises in automotive and landscape photography. Over the years, he has gathered a huge amount of international experience in every respect.
Tom Menz - is from Hamburg, a people photographer who is well-known for his natural beauty shots. A particular focus of his work is his experimentation with light and reflections.
Marc Leclef - a German photographer, living in New York and Germany.

Rick Guest put Real Madrid's player Michael Owen "in scene" for British magazine Esquire in Madrid.

Katseys came from Vienna to shoot a campaign for Bulevard Rosa.

They again collaborated with East Photographic for a car ad - this time with photographer Kai Wiechmann for the new Toyota Aygo. Agency was London-based Chi Advertisment.

Simsan are looking forward to the publication of Dimitri Daniloff's beautiful publicity shots for the upcoming "Life Parade", an international campaign for Nike.

Have a look at the promised images from the latest national campaign in Japan, the new Nissan Serena. In Japan, the images can be seen all over the place: on the tube, magazines, on billboards at Tokyo Dome, even on cinema tickets.

Steffen also went to America to shoot some architecture and reportage in the Mid West.

He is just on the way to shoot another luxury car national campaign for Nissan in the studio.

bcn event/fashion events: CMYK

Now in its second year and described as "the only international festival dedicated to magazine culture", CMYK is a three-day series of activities and events around issues of common interest for the independent publishing sector and its audiences.

There are exhibitions, conferences, round tables and presentations as well as parties and networking spaces for sector professionals to make contact with magazine editors. Special guests have been invited from the UK and  Germany.

CMYK Thursday 21st to Saturday 23rd July.

Group Worldspan, the "live communication agency" with offices in Barcelona, Zurich and UK, offers below-the-line events like product launches and image campaigns.

One of their latest jobs, which demonstrates the wide spectrum that Group Worldspan handles, is the organisation of an Adidas photo shoot in cooperation with German production company Nowadays. As the local producer, Worldspan handled the location, hotel and crew.   
 
In addition, Worldspan worked for brands at the trade fair Bread and Butter which took place in Barcelona last weekend.

Docupolis opens the call for entries of the 5th edition of the International Documentary Festival of Barcelona which takes place at the CCCB. This year, the festival is scheduled from 5-9 October.

Make-up artist Pilar Lucas (SS&M) is responsible for the beautiful faces of the new Breil campaign. Nieves Alvarez (SS&M) and Andres Velencoso are looking better than ever.

Glamour put their trust in Telma (SS&M) again and presents the new swimwear lines for summer 2005, in an original editorial shot by Rafa Gallar.

Eva Palao, one of SS&M's new faces who is making her mark, was chosen for ELLE Magazine to present the new Custo Barcelona collection. The lucky girl travelled with the team to Cancún. Some fabulous photos were taken due to come out in September's edition of the magazine.

Jose Sánchez and Toni Espinosa have extensive experience in the automotive world and several years working as mechanics and chauffeurs. Now they have started their own transport, management, filming and photography company so that they can offer their services direct to clients

They have a work/repair shop with 24 hour security that can house many vehicles located on one of the city's main transport routes. They have the equipment and experience to prepare vehicles before, during and after filming and photography, as well as insurances and all necessary up-to-date documentation.

bcn night/bars and nightclubs: SHôKO

Since its opening a couple of years ago, SHÔKO has put itself firmly on Barcelona's social map.

It has a reputation for beautiful people, great music, its own unique sense of style, and a terrace that goes right out to the beach.

SHÔKO has already started the summer in force, having recently hosted the Campari MTV Red Passion Party with Groove Armada.
