Fraport, the operating company for Frankfurt Airport, took advantage of CGI technology to place real duty free offerings using an animated indicator board. The animation set-up was chosen to provide quick listings of the products on HD displays. The creative lead was with Ogilvy Duesseldorf.

The Porsche 911 Convertible web special was introduced by an animation done at [zerone] and supervised by the agency BB&K. Beside the fly around animation to show the exterior design and features of the car, [zerone] also created a 360-degree look-around to show off the interior design.

[zerone] cgi is renowned for its amazing work in print advertising, but the company recently helped build content for the new Porsche website.

Photographer Erik Chmil shot the backgrounds and HDRIs for the Panamera web-special and 'Colorator'. Based on this material, [zerone] cgi rendered the Panamera and agency BB&K used the material as content for two issues of the web-special. The 'fly-around-animation' can be downloaded as a screensaver and the Panamera 'Colorator' can be used online.

Photographer Willie von Recklinghausen shot the images for the new Porsche GT2 RS brochure. The Space Shuttle was modelled and rendered at [zerone] cgi, while the company also completed post production. Based on this material, BB&K built the 'Colorator' for the new GT2 RS web-special.

[zerone] cgi once again pushed the limits of visual effects with its recent campaigns:
    • In close collaboration with photographer Mats Cordt, the company created a range of visuals for clothing and footwear manufacturer Sympatex Technologies. Although sweat was the subject and the athletes featured in the campaign were pushed to their limits, the team at [zerone] apparently "never reached the point of exhaustion." The liquid elements were completely done using CGI and later composited alongside live action photography.
    • The company worked with photographer Tom Grammerstorf on the brochure for the new Volkswagen Scirocco. CGI technology was used for all but one of the exterior location shots of the car. The photographer adopted parts of [zerone] cgi's workflow for the shoot, previsualising the car on location as if physically there. The team were able to use the data to speed up production of the final images, helping the agency to get a proper impression of the final results and saving both time and money.

[zerone] cgi is renowned for superb car visualisation, but the Hamburg-based company always pushes the envelope to use cgi technology in other areas of print advertising.

The company recently completed a complex task for Bucherer jewellers. Four images were created showing thousands of magpies outside the company's stores in a selection of cities. The magpies, along with whole sections of the shops, were generated using computer graphics. [zerone] also handled a print campaign for Ford using cgi technology for the creation of background architecture. Both jobs were done in cooperation with Jan Steinhilber.

The German print campaign for the Citroën C5 also made use of the computer to entirely produce the car and background architecture. Photographer Markus Wendler shot the images and took care of lighting the car and the environment, as well as the location design itself.

German agency Grabarz und Partner used New York as the location for its catalogue shots for the new SUV from Volkswagen, the Tiguan. However, the car was still top-secret during production, so cgi technology was used to produce all the location shots.

[zerone] cgi used its office in New York to start the postproduction while shooting, saving time and money for the customer. Emir Haveric did the location and HDRI shooting, and supervised the 3D and 2D postproduction.

[zerone] cgi was also involved with the Tiguan 'Bergbahn' billboard, together with photographer Martijn Oort. The idea was to present the car off-road in the mountains, and again this was achieved using cgi.

[zerone] cgi recently worked on a range of projects with photographer Jan Steinhilber.

For agency Scholz & Friends (Hamburg), the company constructed thousands of cgi hornets for a Honda Motorcycles advertisement. The results were published in Stern magazine.

[zerone] cgi worked with Jan on the worldwide Camel cigarettes campaign for Saatchi&Saatchi (Milan). Pack shots and backgrounds were all rendered by the company, whilst the photographer did the traditional shooting of the leaves and supported the virtual lighting.

The pairing also completed a variety of cgi-automotive jobs, including one with GM Europe.

[zerone] cgi and photographer Markus Wendler have worked on an assortment of cgi-projects over the past year. Two major assignments were for car manufacturers Mercedes-Benz and Saab.

A particularly complex shot was completed for the Mercedes-Benz Viano campaign. Taken at the 'Cranger Kirmes' and the 'Hamburger Dom', two famous German fairs, cgi was used to insert images of the vehicle into otherwise impossible environments. For another Mercedes-Benz campaign, one car was shot on location in the traditional sense while a second was later added to the picture using cgi technology.

For Saab, the vehicles where shot on location but the final images were embellished with computer-generated props.

[zerone] cgi also created portfolio work for Markus Wendler.

Volkswagen asked [zerone] cgi to do a "proof of concept" to see if CGI production would meet the quality standards of the European carmaker. In cooperation with photographer Emir Haveric and agency Grabarz and Partner, [zerone] cgi started the test in October. Volkswagen was so pleased with the results that it immediately used two of the images in a campaign.

For DaimlerChrylser, [zerone] cgi produced the catalogue for the new C-Class car. The production included the creation of pure CGI shots, with photographer Ivo von Renner, and the combination of CGI elements with conventional studio photography for the English catalogue.

At the end of last year, Toyota planned the biggest billboard campaign ever to be run in Germany, with 60% of all German billboards being used to promote the new Toyota Auris.

Due to the tight production schedule, [zerone] cgi was asked to do all the visualisation of the car exterior as well as all post-production of the 30 images for the campaign.

The whole team worked 4 weeks to create the car visualisation and integrate the car, people and background to get the pictures ready in time.

In early 2006, Daimler Chrysler decided to take advantage of CGI technology in the production of the new catalogue for the Mercedes-Benz premium coupe, the new CL-Class.

This means that for the first time in Germany, all location shots of a car catalogue would no longer be photographed, but rendered.

Because Zerone CGI combines leading edge technology with a long experience in car visualisation and high-end post production, the Hamburg company was selected by Daimler Chrysler to handle the post production for this innovative production.
