spotlight magazine Oct 2011 corporate, industrial and annual report photography
London: Barry Willis
With over twenty years as a professional photographer, Barry still enjoys every moment behind the camera.
Whether working at home or abroad, his wealth of experience in all aspects, from pre-production through to technical expertise in digital post-production, means that every part of a shoot is carefully considered and directed towards a successful conclusion.
He brings energy and enthusiasm to every job but, above all, it’s his good humour and easy manner on set that proves a winning formula to both subject and client alike.
"Shooting in a corporate environment is often about being able to work quickly and remain unobtrusive", he says. "The ability to think on ones feet and capture the moment is essential, because often there is no second chance".

spotlight magazine Jun 2011 kids photography
London: Barry Willis
Barry Willis has had over 20 years in the industry shooting for advertising, editorial and corporate clients.
“Shooting kids is a skilled combination of directing to a particular brief and making the kids feel they are having a day off school.”
For Barry, being a dad helps in relating to kids, and he enjoys the fun element of working with children. As well as his camera, he always packs bags of energy, a lightness of touch, flexibility and the ability to grab the moment, “because with kids it is highly unlikely you'll get a second chance!”

London: Barry Willis
Barry Willis' portrait of Lauren was commissioned for the launch edition of a new editorial magazine for Zurich Life. Further commissions include Ska duo The Dualers, broadcaster Gerry Anderson, and polemic comedian Mark Steel.
Nick Crowther, editor of The Zurich Magazine says, "Barry makes things easy. As well as being creative, good with people, technically great and all that kind of stuff, he gets things done. Every picture tells a story. And every story fits the brief - no matter how vague or restrictive that may be - Barry Willis is one of the good guys."
As well as enjoying editorial creative freedom, Barry’s commercial work has included commissions for BUPA, The British Heart Foundation and an online awareness campaign for Vodafone.

London: Barry Willis
Whether directing a full production shoot with assistants, digital operator, stylist, hair and make-up, models and extras or shooting guerrilla-style reportage, for Barry Willis no job is too big or too small.
"I love the excitement of that first client meeting," He says. "For me, the journey begins with a set of scamps or layouts and ends with a satisfied client."
As well as keeping busy this summer working on various commercial projects for Deutsche Bank, Camelot, Clifford Chance and British Land, Barry has enjoyed working on a personal project, writing, producing and shooting a music video.
Barry strongly feels that the need for video is only going to grow with clients' increasing demand for web-based content.
"As a stills photographer, I relish the opportunity to apply my intimate understanding of lighting and strong sense of composition to the moving image."
