spotlight magazine Jan 2012 sport photography
London: Peter Beavis Photography
Peter photographed members of the 'new wave' of experimental hula hoopers, who combine a unique blend of rigorous techniques and deep introspection in their chosen 'sport'. Beth, Baxter and Brecken, New York and Los Angeles locals, seamlessly fuse together their different styles and approach to create a beautiful art form. "It was a truly inspiring day with some of the most talented people, who genuinely love their sport".
Peter has just returned from a month long trip on assignment in New Zealand and the beautiful Cook Island of Raratonga. He managed to shoot some personal work which he hopes to have up on his site very soon. Watch this space...
He has again been selected for the AOP Awards and Communication Arts Annual.

spotlight magazine Jun 2011 sport photography
London: Peter Beavis Photography
Peter continues to explore the facets of the human condition; this time concentrating on sport. He shoots the significant moment in time capturing the essence and purity. The first series 'Women's Rugby' was shot in Newcastle, UK on a cold, blustery day. Nobody was hurt during the filming, but there were a few bruises. The 'surfers' are all local Cornish talent, ranging from amateur to professional, but all with a common love of the waves.
"One feels incredibly in awe of their talent, beauty, and raw determination. Bodies that have been shaped by their gruelling schedules and chosen sport. Fine tuned athletes. It's an honour to spend time in their presence."
Peter is always looking for new talent to photograph so if anyone is interested, he can be contacted via email.
