JOB TITLE: Data Wrangler (Contract)

REPORTS TO: Systems Supervisor or Designate

START DATE: Immediately

SUMMARY

IMAX Corporation is seeking a Data Wrangler to assist the Digital System Administrator in providing technical support to high-profile film projects. This is a full-time contract position for a period of approximately 4 months.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assist with I/O on deliveries and incoming data when needed
• Scripting for automating jobs for backup, restore and creation of logs
• Monitor disk space usage on a daily basis and be proactive to circumvent any problems with data storage issues
• Perform data migration tasks with production data
• Archive and retrieve data from different type of devices/sources
• Manage data residing in various locations
• Responsible for the creation of directories for project needs
• Responsible for the any back up as requested
• Any miscellaneous data work
• Additional duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS

• Experience on Linux/Mac/Windows environment
• Understanding file system and directory structure
• 2 years of experience with script programming in csh/bash/perl
• In-depth understanding of NFS, FTP, TAR, RSYNC, and SSH
• Ability to check file sizes on Linux/Mac and windows platform
• Knowledge of and experience with tape backup
• Experience of working a film/video post-production environment preferred.
• Ability to work over-time, evenings and weekends.
