Thankam Kumaran is a freelance photographer based in Kochi, India. She is also known by the name Bindaas Thankam and runs her Facebook fan page by the name of Bindaas Thankam Shots-Out Photography.

A self-taught photographer, Thankam specialises in working with natural light. She combines both candid and documentary styles of photography in her work and feels natural light gives her subjects the most poetic justice. Thankam specialises in portraits, travel, newborn, kids, food, lifestyle photography and is a certified graphic designer. She is also a recipe developer, cook and food stylist.

Thankam started as a travel photographer, travelling all over India capturing candid portraits of people from all races. Portraits are her favourite subjects as she feels a human face is just like a playground where many emotions can be captured. She got into kids photography two years ago and newborn photography in January 2014. A love for kids and a keen interest in human psychology enables her to capture them with ease.

As for photography she says, "You've got to have an eye to capture life."
