Emerald Expositions, the current owner of PDN has announced on the 28th of January 2020, that Photo District News (PDN) is shutting down.
”PDN will no longer publish content, effective as of today. The photography industry has undergone significant changes since PDN was first published in 1980, and the needs of professional photographers have changed along with it. By adjusting our offerings, we can further our mission of providing streamlined, cutting-edge resources that help imaging professionals of all levels achieve their goals and live their passion,” – said Johanna Morse, Senior Vice President, Conference Development.
While Photo District News is discontinuing its print and digital publications, Emerald Expositions will keep posting new content online on the Rangefinder and PhotoPlus.
Photo District News was a monthly magazine for professional photographers first published in May 1980. With its original name New York Photo District News, the magazine was first focused on and distributed in New York only. After a greatly successful start, it didn’t take long for PDN to become a national publication.
PDN is not the only photo industry magazine that has been shut down recently. Imaging Resource has also closed down few months ago and Popular Photography published his last issue in 2017, after 80 years in business.
