About
I had always wanted to be a photographer from as far back as I can remember, getting my first camera - a Kodak Instamatic for Christmas aged six.
My father designed women’s shoes for a living, and both my parents were fascinated by fashion, so I was brought up surrounded by clothes, discussions on clothes, fashion images, and glossy magazines. Despite my father wanting me to go into the shoe business, my grand plan for when I grew up was to become a fashion photographer.
I went to art school at 17, and quickly selected photography as my speciality. After graduation I was lucky enough to assist some of the best photographers of the era including Chris Craymer, Robert Erdmann and Snowdon.
My interest in music swayed my decision making process, and I set up in my early 20’s as a portrait photographer, specialising in celebrities and music.
At 30 I had a solo exhibition at a west end gallery of my special effect colour portraits. The images of electronic and dance music artists, spring-boarded my career to the next level and led to me to being represented by agents in New York, Paris and London.
Around this time I was offered an ad campaign to shoot the launch of a new Peugeot and when I saw how much money was on the table I quickly jumped ships to specialise in cars and still life. The next ten years I spent shooting pan-European and global ad campaigns for many of the world’s top automotive brands. In my early 40’s I wound down my advertising career as my work was predominantly coming in from my USA agents, often involving long trips away from home, and having separated from my wife I wanted to be near my three young children in London.
In 2017 I decided to revisit my early ambitions of fashion and beauty photography and have since worked hard to establish myself in this field.
I have a well equipped studio and production facilities in south central London and would be delighted to shoot your next project either in London or anywhere worldwide.
