Stephan Raaijmakers is an Amsterdam-based portrait photographer with a distinct pictorial style influenced by classical and modern painters. His portfolio contains a wide array of people, including writers, poets, businessmen, refugees and scientists.
A specialist in non-standard portraiture, he strives to bring out what lies beneath the surface of the face. His clients include various Dutch national magazines including Nieuwe Revu, de Groene Amsterdammer, and literary magazine De Gids, as well as international magazines such as The New Internationalist.
His main ambition is to propagate distinctive portraiture in commercial, editorial and advertising contexts.
