Karen Thomas is a London-based food and still life photographer. She is known for the welcoming atmosphere of her big and beautiful loft studio in Hoxton, where she shoots both daylight and flash for wide range of high-end clients. From editorial to advertising, Karen has worked with some of the biggest names in food during her 13-year career.

With Baz Luhrmann's new film hitting the screens, Karen recently had a fun day creating a 'Great Gatsby' set in her studio. Models in 20's-style flapper costumes drank cocktails and grazed on canapés whilst Karen shot the recipes at the other end of the studio, culminating in the obligatory Champagne pyramid.

Amongst many other assignments, Karen recently shot a feature by Yottam Ottolenghi for Waitrose Kitchen, a summer range for Marks & Spencer (images featured in this Showcase); and is about to embark on several features with some of her favourite chefs, including Masterchef winner Dean Edwards and the ever fun and talented Gizzi Erskine.
