Sydney residents have braved one of the coldest winters in years, yet this year's Sydney Film Festival was as popular as ever. The Festival which is one of the longest running of its kind took place in June and amongst other short films, Australian films and documentaries, it also screened the Australian premiere of Beginners, directed by Mike Mills, featuring Ewan McGregor, Christopher Plummer and Mélanie Laurent.

In photography June saw the 2011 Canon AIPP Australian Professional Photography Awards, which was won by Gerard O’Connor.

Our cover was shot by Henryk Lobaczewski for Angus & Julia Stone, a brother-sister duo from Newport for their album "Down the Way" which was the highest-selling album by an Australian artist in 2010.
