CARS, TRANSPORTATION AND LANDSCAPE PHOTOGRAPHY & MOTION Jun 2022

Toronto: Julian Parkinson

Born and raised in Manchester, England, Julian grew up to a backdrop of BMX, skateboarding and snowboarding and became one of Europe’s first snowboard photographers through the 80s and 90s. He photographed the birth and rise of snowboarding with images in British Vogue, GQ, FHM, and others. After a long 'diversion' owning an award-winning UK design agency, Julian and his family relocated to Canada in 2011 where he built a reputation for photographing architecture, catching the eye of Santiago Calatrava which catapulted his photography career to new heights.

Before the pandemic, Julian was invited to shoot a project for Audi Magazine featuring one of Canada’s most influential residential architects, Omar Gandhi. He enjoyed the shoot so much, he decided to add automotive photography to his offerings.

Authenticity is at the heart of his photographic style, with enough production value to make it special, but not so much that an image isn’t believable - a  simple mantra. If a project has a mix of car and architecture, he gets pretty excited about those possibilities.

Julian is equally at home filming and directing motion, and has shot and directed content for an array of Canadian commercials for Kawasaki, Tim Horton’s, Canadian Tire, Samsung, Sportchek and more.
