: Stockholm [Sweden] : The Producers

There is a reason why Stockholm is often referred to as the “Venice of the North”... perched on 14 islands, it is beautiful city, cinematic in every sense of the word. From the narrow web of atmospheric streets in Gamla Stan (Old Town), via the bustling Drottninggatan (the equivalent of London’s Oxford Street) through to the picturesque nature of Djurgården.

Not to mention the rest of Sweden: from the barren island of Fårö in the south (where Ingmar Bergman lives) to the Ice Hotel and aurora borealis in the north. Archipelagos, great wide plains and deep forests offer unique settings for directors including Lars von Trier and Lasse Hallström.

The “Right of Public Access” offers cheap access to almost everywhere, the "VAT return system" offers a 25% discount to foreign filmmakers. There is an average 18 hours of daylight in summer. And everyone speaks English!
