London: Glassworks

The Glassworks has a global reputation for creating in-depth photography commissions. Specialising in portrait and lifestyle images, the studio works as a fully integrated production and shoot specialist for advertising campaigns and high-end collaborative art projects.

The agency’s portrait work is particularly well known with commissions to photograph individuals as diverse as Queen Elizabeth II, Michael Gambon, Lloyd Grossman, Bill Nighy and David Cameron.

'Stickmen' is a series of portraits taken in the megacity of Chongqing, China, the fastest expanding urban mass on the planet. At the very foundation of its labour market are the estimated 100,000 Stickmen. Locally they are known as the “Army of Bang Bang” after their short, stout bamboo sticks. These human freight carriers are the backbone of the goods delivery systems of the 30 million plus city.

The Glasswork’s current commissions include large-scale art works for exhibition at ArtRio with Tempo, Brazil, and at Photovisa in Krasnodar, Russia, 18-23 October. All shoots are fully produced by the Glassworks team in central London run by Marcus Lyon and Nicki Drab.
