They’re expanding the content arm of HowAboutWe from one blog (The Date Report) to four -- and as the freelance Photo Editor & Designer for HowAboutWe Media, you will help our content creation efforts.
This one-month, freelance position is for someone with a keen eye who can bring passion and expertise to our growing media team. There are two components to the role:
Photo editor: They want someone who can find and craft amazing images to enhance their editorial. Their editorial focus is on dating, relationships, sex, culture, and celebrity, and you need to be ready to bring to the subject genuine interest and deep insight.
Designer: You will also be supporting the Business Development and Ad Sales teams to enhance pitches. This will be a secondary but meaningful part of the job. It will require creativity and efficiency, applied to partnership building, branding and advertising.
In this job, you will be:
Researching proprietary and stock film for daily posts, long features, special packages, and everything in between
Selecting, editing, and providing photo direction for editorial content
Creating & maintaining an image database
Managing a photo budget
Creating pinterest-friendly content
Thinking in terms of sharing across various social networks
Working with existing styles set by HowAboutWe’s design team
Your skills, qualifications and attitude:
You have passion for the subject
You will be working at the speed of the internet and will need to turn around projects under tight deadlines
You have exceptional communication skills
You have 1-3 years of design and/or photography research experience
You have experience working on multiple brands
You are highly proficient with Photoshop, Keynote, and other relevant software
You are able to manage various workflows seamlessly
You have a solid understanding of rights and permissions, including photo copyrights
You are hungry for a start-up environment
You have a sophisticated aesthetic
This position is for a freelancer working 40 hours/week on-site in our office in DUMBO.
