Prepress/Production Artist AND Photographer

Up With Paper is seeking a talented Production Artist to join its diverse Creative Team. The candidate will prepare all prepress, file construction, technical processes and finishes for all art created by its in house design team pertaining to its award winning pop-up greeting cards, stationery and books, including custom products for numerous major Key Accounts. This position is prepress heavy and production oriented. The candidate is responsible for technical proofing, establishing and maintaining technical standards, and to ensure that files are properly constructed while maintaining the integrity and print-ability of the electronic files.

The Production Artist will partner with the Creative Director and the appropriate staff to provide and support the technical production needs of the company. The knowledge of printing processes and finishes such as foil, emboss, UV, glitter, and die cutting are required. Accurate digital files and proofs are critical, as well as the ability to proof and approve all pre-production samples.

Up With Paper is looking for a highly organized, detail oriented and self motivated designer that can work in a steadily paced studio while managing multiple deadlines.

The ideal candidate will have a related design degree or significant course work in graphic design, print production, visual arts or related field, or an outstanding portfolio and experience that demonstrates clear knowledge of print production and design. A minimum of 2 years of direct industry experience is required. Must be proficient with Mac OSX, Adobe Creative Suite, including Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign, along with full Microsoft Office.

The ability to manage multiple projects under pre-determined deadlines, exhibit strict attention to detail, be self-motivated, energetic, and exercise proactive and independent project judgment and decision-making skills, while working well within a design studio environment, is crucial. Basic writing skills, ability to proof read, and competently prepare files for production, as well as file organization and archiving skills are a must.

Uniquely, basic still-life digital photography skills are also required for this position. Images of our products are shot in our in-house studio and are regularly incorporated into ancillary prepress files.
