Senior Designer – key responsibilities

The Senior Designer is a new, full time permanent position. You would join Jakarta studio, and be responsible for helping grow The Distillery’s creative presence and leadership.

This role is both grounded and boundless, and involves a combination of regular ‘bread-and-butter’ operational projects, and open-ended strategic creative briefs.

Operational projects involve designing and art-directing wedding stationery andbusiness stationery projects on a daily basis. Key responsibilities include:

Interpreting wedding stationery design briefs
Designing creative concepts, progressing custom briefs from start to finish
Processing corrections and adjustments effectively
Refining and finalising artwork, suitable for letterpress printing
Project management, directly liaising with clients, Distillery Consultants and Designers in Jakarta and Sydney
Where project briefs require: Lettering, calligraphy, illustration and other crafted production techniques
Strategic creative projects are full of expression, with The Distillery passionate about exploring the cultural soul of Jakarta, Indonesia and the Asia Pacific. Once you have established yourself with operational projects, working with our Global Creative Director, Daryl Prondoso you would be involved in:

Devising an overarching creative strategy for The Distillery in Jakarta
Designing, producing, and publishing a creative collection of artwork and merchandise including street-murals, posters, prints, fashion and accessories for world-wide distribution

Applicant Suitability

You must possess the following skills and experiences:

Minimum 4 years full-time work experience as a mid-level+ commercial graphic designer
Excellent interpersonal communication skills in Bahasa Indonesia: reading, writing and speaking
High levels of English language skills: reading, writing and speaking
Very high levels of attention to detail
Ability to effectively time manage and multi-task
Ability to think and act with initiative

Position Requirements

Operational project duties

Wedding stationery and business stationery design. Required skills and experiences:

A mature studio-mindset, prioritising and delivering with excellence these operational projects ahead of strategic projects
An informed and relevant perspective of modern wedding and business stationery design, trends and direction
Intermediate+ knowledge of typography fonts, foundaries across serifs, sans, and scripts
Expert levels of application use across Adobe Creative Cloud: InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop
Skills in hand-lettering and illustration
Strategic project duties

Creative and exploratory studio projects, with a brief to design and craft show-stopping, world-class creative collateral and merchandise.

Required skills and experiences:

An ability to meet project deadlines, despite ongoing operational project requirements
A confident understanding and extraordinary passion of Jakarta’s creative culture
Demonstrated leadership with self-initiated creative projects involving illustration, lettering or craft
