"We are looking for a talented video editor to assemble recorded footage into a finished project that matches director’s vision and is suitable for broadcasting."
Ultimately, you should be able to bring sight and sound together in order to tell a cohesive story.
The ideal candidate should have experience working with an in-house creative team that churns out a high volume of top quality work that conveys core messages and drives sales and attracts users. They must have the ability to take ideas from the various departments and business units and translate them into creative concepts that will drive response in the marketplace
Works under the supervision of the Production Co-ordinator
Manipulate and edit recorded video pieces in a way that is invisible to the audience
Take a brief to grasp production team’s needs and specifications
Review shooting script and raw material to create a shot decision list based on scenes’ value and contribution to continuity
Trim footage segments and put together the sequence of the film
Input music, dialogues, graphics and effects
Create rough and final cuts
Ensure logical sequencing and smooth running
Consult with stakeholders from production to post-production process
Responsible for enhancing, treating video clips for post-production projects
Color grading post-production projects
Compiling on-Location dailies
Creating different color-graded versions of each post-production projects
Mastering post-production projects
Creating and editing 4K quality post-production FX effects (2D or 3D graphics) for post-production projects
Creating post-production montage, titling, onscreen notification, animation, and still graphics for post-production projects
Report equipment problems, and ensure that required repairs are made.
Work cooperatively with key team members, clients and vendors
Performs related work as required.
Assist in research of new technologies and software that might be beneficial.
Operate camera for shooting assignments
Assembling and setting up video camera & on-location equipment
Planning, preparing and rehearsing scenes
Following camera scripts
Creatively framing and capturing action
Travel to different locations depending on assignments.
Continuously discover and implement new editing technologies and industry’s best practices to maximize efficiency.
Ensure proper lighting is achieved.
Travel to different locations depending on assignments.
Take posed and candid shots.
Assist with camera work for documentaries or independent film.
Clean the camera.
Handle the clapboard, load camera recording media, and fill out camera report sheets.
Move cameras and other equipment around as needed.
Take promotional pictures.
Direct participants in shots.
Adjust lens and secure different lens sizes depending on shot.
Select and install screens and filters in camera to produce desired effects.
Proven work experience as a video editor
Demonstrable video editing ability with a strong portfolio
Creative mind and storytelling skills
Solid and/or professional experience in Adobe Premier Pro, DaVinci Resolve, Adobe After Effects and Adobe Photoshop
Additional knowledge in the following is necessary but not required: Assimilate Scratch, Lightworks, 3D composing software packages
Should have a good/deep understanding of timing, motivation, continuity, lighting, primary color, secondary colors, shadows, tones, curves, highlights, color grading
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities:
Strong communication skills to confidently explain information and converse with customers/clients
Organizational skills to effectively process all paperwork/products
Self-confidence to take the initiative to approach potential customers/clients
Active Listening - Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
Reading Comprehension - Understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents.

Desirable (not required):
Responding quickly to directions on/off location
Liaising with lighting and technical staff on-location
Deal effectively and tactfully with clients, co-workers and upset end users
Good assessment skills using logic and common sense
Relevant Certifications, B.Sc. or M.Sc. or Diploma in film studies, cinematography or related field. Having more than one or all is an added advantage.
Office/multimedia production studio environment, noise level is usually moderate, will endure long sitting hours, may require travelling (within Africa), working on-location
9am – 5pm Monday - Friday, Always on-call, Office/Offsite
