"My name is Nicola Ughi and I like to steal people's soul. Yes, because that’s what people who are portrayed say about my work.
Portrait photography is a part of my job that I love most and gives me the greatest satisfaction. I shoot corporate portraits for companies, but that's not all. In 2017 I began a project called "Sediarossa" (the red chair) in which I shoot famous people, and they aren't sitting on a red chair.
The red chair is, as I call it, my "non-place"; by sitting on it, those who let themselves be portrayed pause for a moment in front of the lens. It is the "fil-rouge" that unites many well-known and lesser-known faces in front of Nicola Ughi's lens."

Italy: Nicola Ughi
Nicola Ughi is based in Lucca (Tuscany) and works mainly across corporate photography, industrial reportage and portraiture.
Nicola owns a huge white studio near Lucca where he shoots both portrait and still life. Not put off by the sight of blood, he often works in hospitals and surgical theatres for medical and scientific reportage.
He is the official photographer for Italian ice cream maker Sammontana, and he also works for important Italian heavy industries shooting pictures for catalogues and websites.
Nicola is well known for the project '#SEDIAROSSA' in which he portrays Italian VIPs.
