About
Julie specializes in travel, action and commercial imagery but has photographed just about everything in the past few decades. Julie excels in photographing people — just doing whatever it is they do.
She started her career as an educator after attending Duke University and completing 2 master’s degrees in Colorado. She also tried out aviation and has her instrument rating, multi-engine and commercial pilot’s licenses. But, she kept picking up that camera until in 2002, she decided to make her passion her career. Julie Shipman Photography was born.
Julie splits her time between Los Barriles, Mexico and Salt Lake City, Utah, with her husband, Bo, and 4-legged friend, Charlie. Kids? Yep… Peter, Hank, Jack, Bella & Livi!

Julie Shipman specialises in photographing people. She shoots mostly lifestyle, travel and action imagery for commercial, editorial and private commissions.
Julie’s clients constantly remark about how easy it is to work and travel with her. She is always up for an adventure and loves to "capture that moment" where people are just doing what they do! She is a pilot, a motorcycle enthusiast, a sailor and ready to explore mostly anything.
She has been a professional photographer since 2002, currently shooting with the new Canon mirrorless system, the R5 and RF lenses. She splits her time between Los Barriles, Mexico and Salt Lake City, Utah with her husband Bo and their dog, Charlie. Kids? Yep… Peter, Hank, Jack, Bella and Livi! But they are all grown up (thankfully!) so she’s ready to roll.
