Erik Sven
Interiors & exteriors photographers
Erik Sven is a Seattle-based architectural and interior photographer whose work explores visual storytelling through light, material, shape, scale, and cohesion.
Here, a recent narrative series has two objectives: first, to introduce the Thence By Descent brand as a leading source for Nakashima furniture in the Pacific Northwest. Second, to engage the audience through story by reconnecting the designer with his PNW roots. The end result moves the collection beyond function toward a broader conversation about design, art, and place.
Originally trained in photojournalism, Erik is a joy to work with both on location and in studio. He approaches each project in hopes of discovering deeper meaning with his audience. Through this practice his goal is to have fun while creating high-calibre, story-first work that directs viewers along a crafted narrative.
His photography and video clients include Skanska, Architectural Digest, Pacific Bonsai Museum, FRANKiE4, AOME Architects, Sotheby’s Realty, and more.

"There's a spark of creativity that flows through each and every one of us. But you have to tap into it. You have to seek it. It's like a drug, a surge of something that can't be stopped. But it is good. It is great. It is the life force that makes all things.
As if you're a horse running down a track, nothing else matters the vision in front of you. It is the rush of the wind and the syncopation of those surrounding you; the hooves pounding the earth, the flex of muscles, and the need to keep going. That's when you tap into your best work as a creative. That's when projects and campaigns come alive with your fellow co-conspirators. Together we can build something great when we are all aligned within ourselves."
Cameron is represented by The Gren Group.

"It's important to stay creative, to actively exercise your own creativity, like a personalised workout program that's just for you. Why? Because if you don't, no one else will — meaning your creativity is only yours and if it is not realised, materialised, then it never will.
Travel, document, customise your own project."

"I love a return client. They get you. They trust you. And they know your sense of humor. Then all of a sudden it no longer becomes about getting the shots and getting the list checked off. It morphs into a dance, a playfully choreographed composition of creatives doing what we do."

"Whether on assignment or during a commercial campaign, I love finding those moments to capture portraits. A portrait is to make a true connection with someone, not a passing acquaintance, but a time of humility and trust on both parties.
One is there to open oneself; the other, to do justice and create a new uniqueness of one's personality."
