Christine Le Clos from Freelink has an interesting take on why her company has been having such a bumper season despite the current global slowdown.
"Our hard-snapping, hard-travelling location scouts have been amazing," Christine explains. "It's so gratifying when you land that plum job because you went the extra mile to find a special location that brings the whole shoot to life".

With shoots confirmed for July and September, North South Productions will be busy all year round. There is a wealth of new locations for clients to discover right across southern Africa, with extreme landscapes in Mapumalanga, Kruger National Park, Durban, Mozambique Bazaruto Islands and unique spots in Namibia for shoots between June and November. A great exchange rate makes budgets go even further.
As a German, French and English speaking team with vast knowledge of the overseas advertising market, North South Productions is technically equipped to handle any level of production successfully and within budget.

Cape Town Productions has produced many wonderful international productions during the 2007/8 Cape Town summer season, from challenging CGI and highly complex digital composition projects, to automotive ad campaigns with the 'Move 'n' Shoot' camera rig system, magazine fashion editorials, catalogues and stills advertising campaigns.
Even former 'photo assistants' from seasons past have returned as clients in their own right this year. The team is currently busy updating locations, negotiating favourable rates from suppliers, and generally gearing-up for next season.

Cool Banana travelled recently to one of the remotest parts of Africa with Elle Italia. Photographer David Burton and his brave team of trailblazers, stylist Sofia Odero and hair & make-up artist Pedro Pianto, flew to a unique destination in the middle of the Makgadikgadi salt plains in Botswana. David shot two editorials for the May and June issues, one with model Lousie Herold and the other with Carmen Maria Hillestad.
Italian swim and beachwear manufacturer Calzedonia was in South Africa for the first time to shoot a 2008 summer catalogue with photographers Nico Bustos and David Burton. Styling was done by Italian Elle stylist Carola Bianchi, with hair & make-up by Augusto Picerni. Models Brigitte Swidrack, Elsa Hosk, Dominique Piek and Jeniffer Lamiraqui got their feet wet along Cape Town's beautiful white beaches.
Motorola was in Cape Town on the African-leg of its world tour, shooting the Middle East and Africa image campaign with renowned photographer Peggy Sirota. The enormous production was shot over a week, with the photographer's high-profile team including stylist Michael Nash and hair & make-up artist Johnny Hernandez.

Liza Botha - having recently completed an interior design degree at BHC School of Design, Liza is back in full force. She just shot Cosmo lingerie in Pretoria, and the 2005 Sports Illustrated covergirl is soon to jet-off to the Maldives for another shoot with the crew of the famous magazine title.
Roxy Louw - the '4th sexiest woman in South Africa' is truly 'surfing' the wave of success. Not only has she secured herself a spot as one of the Sports Illustrated models for 2008, but she recently landed a contract as the face of Woolworths.
Warren Macaslan - with a full-time job in construction, Warren still finds time for regular modelling work. He recently starred opposite Charlize Theron in the Sun International ad, currently being aired in South Africa.
Chad Meihuizen - the former Guess winner is a favourite with both local and international clients having recently joined Outlaws.

Her knowledge of fashion is immense: she designed for the LA Clothing stores, had her own clothing label 'Miyu' at the Young Designers Emporium, was instrumental in launching the London brand Boy Clothing in South Africa, and also excelled for many years as the fashion editor of Top Billing magazine.
