Ricardo de Vicq de Cumptich began his career shooting artist portraits for the music industry in Rio in the 1970s. Since the 80s he has been based in his own São Paulo studio and has become one of the biggest names in Brazil's food industry. Ricardo shoots for advertising, design agencies, editorials and magazines such as Vogue, Marie Claire and Elle.

His main focus is food, drink and still life. He also boasts numerous culinary books marrying the work of many famous chefs. Liquid, food colour and texture have always enchanted Ricardo, inspiring him to capture taste and smell within a photo.

In advertising, his work has been awarded at the Cannes Festival, N.Y. Festival, London International Advertising Awards, Luerzer’s Archive, Clio Awards, The Art Directors Club Inc., Graphis Advertising, Graphis Alternative Photography, Conrado Wessel Foundation and Avon Colours, among others.

His personal work has been featured in exhibitions both nationally and internationally in locations including Paris, Florence, São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro.

He was honoured with the cover of the Graphis Photo Annual ’94 along with many other publications such as Graphis Nudes, B&W Special Issue ’08 (Merit Award in portrait), 6th Black&White Spider Awards (still life nominee), and 7th Black&White Spider Awards (nude nominee). He also took part in Ogilvy's press advertisement that won a Golden Lion at Cannes 2013.
