The South of France is waking from its winter sleep. Modern buildings are shooting up from Marseille to Monaco, with many municipalities boasting new theatres, stadiums, schools and cultural centres. Other cities like Nice have implemented tramways to enhance local traffic services, allowing for the “new” to sit next to the old. This Spotlight features the modern side of Marseille that had its coming out this year during its tenure as European Capital of Culture.
A handful of local and international architects have polished up the whole region and turned it into a world-class attraction, from the Old Port reshaped by Norman Foster to neighbouring cities like Aix-en Provence.
7 Seas emphasizes its constantly updated location database, drawing special attention to the modern and unknown. Recent productions included Pal Zileri, Betty Barclay and MINI Paceman in Monaco with photographers Alistair Taylor Young, Oscar Falk, and Kai-Uwe Gundlach.
