Simon Urwin is a travel and lifestyle photographer. He was recently selected as a finalist in the Association of Photographers’ Awards 2013 (Portrait Single category).

Two of his location-based portraits are part of the Royal Society of Photographers’ Print Exhibition 2013-14, while his photographic works have lately been acquired by private collectors in Los Angeles, Hong Kong and Moscow.

A regular contributor to Lonely Planet’s ‘Traveller’ magazine and a specialist in “taking the road less travelled,” recent projects and commissions have been shot in Bangladesh, Laos, Morocco, Afghanistan and Pakistan.

Simon is in his element when on assignment, no matter how extreme or sensitive the environment - be it scrambling up a peak at 4am for sunrise in the Atlas mountains, wrangling access to an illegal cockfight in Mexico City, or being up to his neck in freezing water capturing a river baptism in the north of Israel.
