The vibrant versatility of the landscapes of the island of Tenerife shines in the latest commercials released.

The spectacular and iconic perfume advert 'Imagination' by Louis Vuitton, directed by Simon Schmitt, takes place on the wildest coast of the island with its black lava. This production by Iconoclast and Azul with the production service of Volcano Films had a challenge: to set up a mirror platform on the beach of Las Gaviotas. In addition, it was shot in the traditional way, in 35mm photochemical with the use of 2 ARRI 435 and 1 ARRI 235 cameras.

Meanwhile, the 'Head meets heart' spot for the VolkswagenID.4 GTX electric car with the production service of Sur Film shows the great versatility of the island in a single shot: from the most urban, to the vast dusty desert roads, or pine forests.

These commercials were shot in April; composed with the combination of gorgeous weather, the fine quality of equipment, and the profound experience of the skilled audiovisual professionals of Tenerife.

Tenerife's attraction as a destination for international advertising shoots is on the rise.

Major advertisers are filming spots on the island, supported by an increasingly solid local industry and a great variety of locations from beaches to mountains or urban spaces.

Advertising filming activity in Tenerife has intensified in recent months. The new panorama following the Covid-19 pandemic has boosted the island's attractiveness as a safe filming set for international firms that used to travel to other territories beyond Europe.

The boom in advertising production has included local companies with a long history in production services such as Sur Film and Volcano Films, but also others that have recently settled on the island, such as Solworks.

Recent commercial work hosted in Tenerife:

    • The Swiss lottery Swisslos, the fashion company C&A, the German bank Postbank and Volkswagen, serviced by Sur Film
    • Louis Vuitton, serviced by Volcano Films
    • Global brand Zara and the Italian food company AIA, serviced by Solworks Film
    • Fashion editorials for Elle Magazine and El Corte Inglés, produced by Pop House.

Plenty of movies and commercials have been shot in the Canary Islands, and Tenerife has been constantly chosen as a filming location for its diverse and paradisiacal landscape. You may find a modern city near a beach, plenty of natural parks or you may spot colossal mountains from almost everywhere. The visual attraction of the island keeps capturing the attention of photographers, producers, artists and storytellers in general. Desert landscapes are a key location in Tenerife.

The south of the island and Teide National Park are very popular locations to tell stories. Sky Rojo (Netflix) is about to be released soon this month and it shows a charming yellow Tenerife with a dry dusty landscape. In addition, Our Father (Volcano Films and Noodless Productions) brings to life a modern western with road movie conventions. La piel en llamas – Skin On Fire (Alamo Productions with collaboration of Festeam Comunicación y Eventos) shows us an abandoned miltary zone but also an iconic location of the island, Arico. Also ‘Ça ira’ the videoclip from the French ‘Vitaa & Slimane’ goes through a wide variety of deserted locations, chosen by Seven Islands Film.
