"At Fotografiska, we strive to be a vital centre for contemporary photography. Our ambition is to exhibit world-renowned photographers, many of whom have never been shown in Sweden."

Located in the heart of Stockholm, the museum has an exhibition space of 2,500 m² and features four major exhibitions and approximately 15-20 minor exhibitions per-year.  Aiming to engage and inspire a dialogue on photography via exhibitions, seminars and courses, in addition Fotografiska actively works towards the acquisition of contemporary photography for the permanent collection.

Housed in a former industrial Art Nouveau style building dating from 1906 and designed by Ferdinand Boberg, the former customs house is listed as a building of cultural interest. The original brick facade remains intact, while the interiors have been renovated to house the museum. The city of Stockholm has funded the 250 million Crown restoration costs and in addition to exhibition spaces, Fotografiska houses an academy, bistro, cafe, bar, conference rooms, museum shop, gallery, and event spaces.
