The Director of Photography of the I LIVE YOGA Tour will join our 2 on-camera yoga personalities on the road trip from late-March through September, shooting video, still photography and audio that will be featured on YogaJournal.com & Gaia.com throughout the summer and beyond.
What you'll be capturing, in cinematic style:
- short form inspirational interviews and storytelling (:30-2min)
- yoga practice teachings (2-5min)
- long-form yoga & meditation instruction (30-60min)
- behind-the-scenes and documentary footage (varying length)
- branded content as needed supporting our sponsors (1-5min)
Who you'll be capturing:
- the best yoga, meditation & wellness teachers in the country
- inspiring yogis and on-street/festival interviews
- our on-camera road team
Where you'll be capturing:
- yoga & meditation studios & retreat centers
- music and yoga festivals
- health & wellness centers/hospitals/military groups
The Director of Photography will have full ownership of the style of this project and all content deliverables. You'll work with our on-camera road team to train and guide them in making all content inspirational and engaging, as well as providing direction to our on-call video editor based in Boulder, CO. You'll be responsible for weekly raw video asset delivery back to Boulder, CO.
We'll cover all expenses for you while on the road, including: lodging, per diem for food, purchase of state of the art equipment (or rental from you if providing your own), travel, flights to and from home, PLUS a monthly salary tbd based on your experience.
BONUS | Our partner (Gaia TV) plans to use the collective footage to create a feature-length documentary at the culmination of the Tour.
We're looking for someone who has previously worked as Director of Photography on episodic TV, documentary, or branded content projects. We'll also consider talented Camera Operators looking for their big break to full ownership of a large scale documentary style video project.
Special consideration given to candidates that personally practice yoga, have shot yoga previously, or have experience and are inspired by transformational storytelling.
Must be comfortable living and working independently on the road for 6 months during the spring/summer of 2016.
Talented camera, lighting & audio skills. Cinematic shooting style. Comfort in directing on-camera talent. Ability to get the best quality from a wide variety of unexpected shooting locations. Drone video experience a plus.
