VFX Artist

We are currently seeking a VFX Artist to join our team of talented game professionals in our studio in downtown San Francisco. This role will work closely with our Art Directors and Programmers on our next awesome game! The ideal candidate has extensive experience working in 3D, can create a wide range of VFX (power ups, explosions, fire, etc), as well as a general understanding of hierarchy within the effect and how they will read to the players.


Develop, maintain, and create animations for real time game assets.
Work with lead animator to ensure timely completion of character assets at the desired quality bar.
Meet set deadlines with completed and fully realized animations
Work in a highly collaborative environment to fully realize our characters and environments through movement
Communicate with our team when assistance is needed or challenges are presented on the project


Portfolio and/or reel should show examples of VFX animations and textures used to stylize those VFX


2+ years experience in a similar role, preferably with another mobile game company
Essential skills include a solid grasp of the principles of motion, anticipation, dynamics, follow-through, and other facets of animation.
Strong understanding of traditional animation principles and how they can be used to enhance gameplay
The VFX Artist must also have skill in creating textures and geometry needed for stylized VFX backed by related tools expertise – Photoshop, After Effects, Maya, etc.
The ability to effectively collaborate with game designers and programmers
High degree of self motivation and discipline and exceptionally organized with a high attention to detail
Large visual database and a passion for video games
Experience working with deadlines, and a deadline driven mentality to complete your work
Able to work in a wide range of styles
Have the ability to work in the United States without sponsorship
While not required, the following attributes will help set you apart from the other candidates:
2D or 3D Animation experience outside VFX
Candidates identified to move forward in the process will be asked to complete an art exercise in addition to a formal interview.
