Barcelona: Setup productions
For the last decade, Setup Productions has offered its services in Barcelona, Spain and elsewhere managing all types of projects in film, photo and events. Pierre Mallmann and his professional team guarantees the very best local services. They specialize in cars and fashion, be it for photography or commercial filming.
Featured in this Spotlight are the images for Brigitte Magazine with photographer Wiebke Broeker. The casting took Setup to various flamenco schools and bars throughout Spain.
The Hyundai i30 film and photo project with Thomas Goos (D.O.P) took place at the Zaragoza’s Expo and all around Barcelona.
El Corte Inglés promo editorials for various Spanish magazines brought the team to Miami. The shooting with photographer Nina W. Melton, involved three different projects.
Persil sent photographer Bernd Opitz to shoot the advertisement campaign pictures while the commercials were shot with Twototango. Bernd also shot Rolf Benz furniture a few weeks earlier.
Last but not least, The Mini. Every year since the new Mini was born, Setup was able to work with the people and the cars, creating a stylish and highly efficient way to shoot the cars in motion. Now for the Mini Countryman Setup signed for another real adventure on the roads of Aragon and the Pyrenees. -

Setup productions
Setup Productions' 2008 promotional videos for Mini Clubman and Cooper S Clubman won Gold Medals at the prestigious New York Festival for Commercial Film 2009 in the 'Industrial Productions Sale' category.
Shot between Madrid, Navarra, and the roads of Atazar, Setup assisted director Martin Kriegler and his team during a two-week shoot. The company gathered a range of images, from plain driving pleasure to cosmopolitan city traffic, stop motion photography and animated graphics. The result is a beautiful film screened in Mini showrooms and at trade fairs worldwide.
In November, the core team was in Miami working on an editorial for Naif Magazine and preparing locations in Arizona, New Mexico and California for upcoming projects in the US.
In Barcelona, the company welcomed Drop Out Films from Germany for the last few sunny days of 2008, filming images for the upcoming Adidas Running web campaign.

Setup productions
During the Spanish 'vacaciones', Setup was busy with German catalogues and advertising jobs. Whilst everyone else enjoyed the sun at the beach - and the parties by night! - Setup had beautiful working days in Ibiza with Nina Melton behind the camera shooting for Quelle and preparing the upcoming session for the Spanish Boboli campaign.
While the Ibiza shoots were in full swing, German investment bank DEKA confirmed a job that saw Setup head back to Barcelona. Piet Truhlar, one of Germany's most desirable photographers, arrived to take the company through one of its most spectacular projects - involving a giant cup and lots of water! Setup then left for Mallorca with Pierre Cardin, shot by Frank Grimm, and Elegance, shot by Parisian photographer Lutz Winkelmann.
For a serious yet family-like atmosphere with little hassle and maximum fun, Setup productions is the most experienced production service company in Barcelona.

Orion Dahlmann recently visited Barcelona again after many years away and chose to work again with Setup Productions on his fashion shoot for Ahlers ag. The four-day project included going to remote places like Cadaques and the peaks of Montserrat to find unspoiled natural environments. Brian Parrish and Carmine were the models for the project.
Also recently working in Barcelona were long-term friends and collaborators from "the old rabbit club" aka Frank Grimm, Flohsinn Kahle and Nick Knatterton - with Setup Productions providing them with Barcelona's top locations, yachts, helicopters, fast cars and so on, for the new and latest Atelier Torino campaign, with model Martin Lowe.
Setup also worked with German photographer Lutz Winkelmann, CD Michaela Schober and Stephan Fahning in Barcelona.Other recent projects include filming for BMW and Young Magazine.

With the arrival of Michel Comte and a spectacular shoot with Formula 1 drivers Nick Heidfeld and Sebastian Vettel from the BMW Sauber team, Setup's spring season found its highlight. They had the pleasure of assisting Michel during his weekend visit for BMW Sauber and Vanity Fair magazine - under the surveillance of RTL Television...
The company has also recently been engaged in several Adler campaign shootings with Keith Schofield behind the camera, followed by Concordia Insurance photo production with photographer Andrea Diglas and the Concordia Insurance commercial film shot by Rolando Colla with DoP Oliver M.
Also in the portfolio: a campaign for Paddle Rackets by Head and a Blevit campaign - a baby-food-on-the-beach shot by Nina Melton.
Setup is now busy with a fresh BMW project and Fashionista from Hamburg - more details in the next issue and at the Setup website. -

Production: Photo ads for United Internet Team Germany and Sponsor 1&1 in Valencia. Photographer Jörg Badura. For 10 days, they went sailing with the pros. Two-time Olympic champion Jesper Bank and his team were photographed whilst training for the Americas Cup.
Location scouting: for Ansons Men's Fashion in Valencia.Publishing: Pierre Mallmann wrote about Valencia and the world's most prestigious sporting event for German Private Wealth magazine.

Seville [Spain] : Setup Productions
The city of Seville offers classical backdrops, historical buildings and castles, squares and parks. Plus spectacular roads and landscapes, offering a "sense of cowboy country". And weather that permits year-round shooting under blue skies.
Seville is the capital of the Spanish region of Andalusia, which has been used in many European and Hollywood film productions. Currently, the new Asterix movie is being shot in Huelva, to the north of the city.
SETUP Productions is opening the infrastructure for its clients to shoot with proper permits, a wide variety of props, set-building, animals, cars etc. They say "Simply give us your idea, be it a story in a haunted castle, a bullfight, a hacienda... we’ve got it on file for you to see. And then see you in Seville and Andalusia for your next project."

The Costa Brava in northeastern Spain has a number of properties which benefit from the beaches and views of Catalonia. The following three properties are represented by Setup.
The Josep Pratmars-Parera designed property is suitable for fashion and advertising productions. It has a large garden and forest area and its own tennis court. The interior is well equipped with original furniture from the 60s and 70s by interior designer Orianna Banks.
"The White House" has its own boatyard and excellent views over the Mediterranean from all rooms.Jose Antonio Coderch built the "Ugalde House" in 1951 using simple materials available in the time of Franco’s dictatorship, but he maximised the use of design. Today, it is restored and available for selected jobs in fashion photography. Interestingly, Picasso came to design the lamp in the sitting room, one of a kind.

Before everyone leaves Barcelona for their hard-earned holidays, let us inform you, that August is the best time to shoot film in Catalonia's capital. So far, Setup will be here with their production vans throughout the hottest month, serving clients such as Adler, BMW, Gabor, OBS and Farfelu & Babeurre.
Recent work took us to scout in the Jaen area, where we found impressive roads and landscapes, and to the Sierra of Navarra, where desert meets moonlike landscapes. New buildings and houses have been added in Barcelona and most importantly in Mallorca. Our street casting archive and own casting studio allow a quick and direct insight into who's in town for your next ambitious film and photography projects.

While many people were complaining about unusual weather in Spain, Setup Productions started with the first few rays of light to shoot pictures on the island of Mallorca. Photographer Sara Wilson, for both Doris Streich and KL Ruppert, was a good start to the summer season, no doubt.
Coming back to Barcelona, the challenge was German Glamour Magazine with Javier Pla. The Madrid-based photographer handled 3 editorials working at the speed of light under clear skies.After that, we welcomed a well-prepared film project for BMW. The new BMW 1, a well-tuned 3 series and the face-lifted BMW 5 were our main actors for the last two weeks of June. Watch out for the results in BMW showrooms and fairs if you're still not convinced of sunny images produced by - Setup Productions. We provide good weather - even when it rains...

Setup Productions provided good support and sunshine when needed to K+L Ruppert Fashion Catalogue, Doris Streich Fashion Catalogue, both shot by Sara Wilson on Mallorca (yes we had Models: Sisley-girl Hila Marin, Sofia Premier and Rory Marshall, among others).
While you are reading, Setup is receiving German Glamour Magazine for three editorials, working with models, photographer and H&M from Barcelona or Barcelona based Reps. We look forward to all parties involved doing their best and making this unique project a huge success.

Setup productions
Throughout April, Setup Productions has been co-producing the new ADIG Investment campaign with Golden Gun Hamburg. Photographer Jürgen Herschelmann and his crew have been to Barcelona's aquarium, a spectacular yet “sharky” location, and to almost every charming spot in the city.
Another time-consuming job was an 18-minute feature for BMW's new compact car, the BMW1, to be launched in September 2004. TVT Media, with one of our favourite directors Martin Kriegler, had to visually compare the BMW1 with its competitors: Audi A3, Alfa147 and Golf 5, in attempt to prove the Bavarian product to be the best.
It took BMWs Formula One Test driver Fritz Lanio all he was worth to drive the four cars to their respective limits. 5,000km around Catalunya covered in one week, 9 production vehicles moving and one big truck - no accidents. -

In February, Setup was proud to co-ordinate the casting for the new Opel Meriva Campaign, shot by Uli Heckmann in Cadiz, in conjunction with Santa Monica Productions, our partner in the South.
In Mallorca, we worked with the German Amica Magazine in their editorial shoot, "Masquerade". Chris Militscher was behind the lens.
Lastly, Setup arranged for Zurich-based Juventino Mateo to shoot the Modern Mona Lisa for Barcelona’s CNR Magazine.

2004 started early for Setup Productions: A collaboration with InHouse Paris for Lane Crawford Retail Hong Kong saw our team again busy in the streets and hottest locations of Barcelona. Photographer was Ramon Escobosa, Styling: Macarena Nico, MakeUp by Juanvi (Servimatge).
While you read, we are in full swing with the campaign for German Baer Shoes and photographer René Schwerdtel from Germany.
Setup Creative: Setup is also proud to announce the launch of its creative department.
Along with a unique sense of service, Spanish clients can now book selected photographers and directors, make up artists and stylists with our booker Laura Gomez. We thank everyone for their outstanding help in getting our project on the way and those who were present at the opening party for being there. -

The autumn season in Barcelona had great challenges in store for Setup Productions. As the summer went smoothly by, Esad Cicic came to town with 7 catalogues to shoot for Peek & Cloppenburg’s Men’s Fashion.
Setup had the pleasure to welcome one of the shooting stars in Car Photography: Tom Schulte, on a 4 motifs project for Seat Cordoba, during which he got confirmed another shooting for the Smart Car. Because of the good quality work and quick selection of locations we could offer, Tom stayed in Barcelona to shoot the Smart here as well.
Currently Setup is serving the English Glamour Magazine with Photographer Neil Gavin and editor Belinda Palmer on two editorials.

Starting a new job, the teams we receive become somehow
family to us for the time we work together.
This past month of August we've been able to make friends and family and
powered force into the next Mini Cooper showroom video by TVT and Dan
Pearlman in Barcelona.
We also produced three catalogues for children and baby wear for the Belgian clients Farfelu and Babeurre on the island of Mallorca. -

The summer in Barcelona is once again incredible. Sunshine, beaches and heat for those who seek relaxation, wonderful light conditions for those who come to work.
In the last few weeks SetUp has been providing production service to Dorothea Craven for Kaufhof, to Robert Penkwitt for Wenz and to Patrick Schwalb for Sinn Leffers, - all three German catalogues with different outlooks, yet for each one we could provide with the right locations, being it modern architecture, rural landscapes or beaches, windy roads or mountain monasteries.
We are currently preparing a new Mini Cooper Campaign to be filmed on
locations all over Catalonia at the beginning of next month. -

Another great month of beautiful weather and exciting work has gone by.
Well known professionals from Germany, such as Axl Jansen, Martin
Bauendahl and Dorothea Craven plus Belgium-based Andrea Lennon have been working with us in Barcelona on their Campaigns and Catalogues.
As the city offers numerous beaches and a vast variety of architecture,
easy access to countryside locations and beautiful landscapes nearby,
Barcelona receives more and more teams of film and photo.
Nonetheless we at SETUP Productions maintain a steady service commitment and a growing range of experience in all aspects of production and publicity service. As always, you can see a great part of our work documented in the Making Of section of our website.

Setup has been preparing the upcoming shoot for Tissaia with
Photographer Andrea Lennon from Belgium.
Castings and Location scouting also involved Hamburg based Martin Bauendahl who is soon coming to town again with Londa Sun Care and Agency Dorland.
Unforgettable moments involved the service we were able to provide for the new Mustang Jeans PR and POS shoot with Axl Jansen from Berlin. The team around designer Doris Menzel involved Stylist Olivier Rizzo and Make Up Artist Servulo who is now Berlin-based, but still strongly missed by the home crowd here. Models James Russo (as seen in the HUGO campaign) and Elke Siebeling completed the picture in an undisputed fashion.
SETUP is currently researching on a new Barcelona promotional for Business Vogue and preparing for Making Of Mustang Group. -

In April, Setup Productions was busy with the new Venice Beach Campaign. Photographer Bernd Slotta took the pictures for Economia (Hamburg), in an unforgettable fashion. Other visits paid last month: M. Heitmann for the Focus magazine cover, Brax and Olympus Digital Store Checks and recess, as well as photographer’s Andrea Lennon visiting Barcelona for an upcoming shoot for Leclerc.
Our own projects included a promo for the new Restaurant Buda Barcelona where we shot pictures for the German Vogue Magazine. Finally with the war over, work is picking up quickly in the capital of Catalunya and we again welcome clients to visit our web page and contact us for special location web pages and estimates that fit their budgets.
Future projects include the launch of a new party concept with Danzatoria and Germanys Grosse 8 video installations by Lichtfront, and force tracks´ DJs MRI and Setup is moving into larger office space soon, so be prepared for a welcome party in the Vallcarca area.

Barcelona based production company SETUP has lately been divided in two sections that offer both service and creative solutions. "SETUP /rep" is now working on promoting creative people in Spain, opening the market for new solutions in photo- and film-making by supplying integral service and talent on location in Spain.
Recently the state of Andorra has been added to our destinations. WALLPAPER MAGAZINE AND ALFA ROMEO were our guests in the Pyrenees Mountains. Shootingstars B3, a boygroup from New York just finished shooting their video and CD Cover / Press Releases in Barcelona.
