Nick Hagen Detroit

Nick Hagen is a Detroit-based documentary and portrait photographer who emphasizes truth and honesty over style. He is all about visually showcasing the world in the most objective and truthful way possible, while retaining a tinge of optimism and humour.

The work shown in this Spotlight is pulled from multiple stories spanning three continents, like the passionate video game community of Lagos, Nigeria, refugees trying to relocated to the Metro Detroit region, everyday life in Beijing, China, and the Flint-born boxer, Claressa Shields, fighting in one of Detroit's most historic venues.

Nick’s ultimate goal is to make people feel seen and heard by synthesising their stories into honest photography.

Nick has been commissioned by Bloomberg Businessweek, Buzzfeed, The Financial Times, The London Telegraph, Poltico, Time Inc., The Washington Post, Vice Media, and Vox Media.

Nicola Ughi Italy

Nicola Ughi is a photographer with experience in travel and leisure both for editorial and corporate clients.

Nicola travels alone with its camera to uncover the spirit of a place: hotels and houses but at the same time popular traditional feasts and typical food. He likes to describe animated landscapes instead of loneliness.

He loves to travel, especially in Europe and the Northern hemisphere to tell stories about traditions and contradictions of the civilised world. In 2016 and 2017 he had the possibility of travelling around Italian beaches to create a reportage for Sammontana Icecream, decribing the typical Italian summer way of living.

Peter Baiamonte New York

Peter Baiamonte wants his images to tell stories while communicating a sense of deeper meaning and giving his audience a glimpse of a unique place or revealing the special personality of his subjects.

Peter’s work includes many genres. He is passionate about sports, portraiture, travel, and landscapes. Although based in New York City, he has a second location in the Berkshires and works regularly with clients in both New York and Boston. He has easy access to the entirety of New England.

The work featured in this Spotlight is taken from new personal projects including adventures in Venice, Italy; the Big Island of Hawaii; and a road trip through Montana as the entire state was blanketed in smoke from wildfires.

Peter's clients include Ernst & Young, Con Edison, Panasonic, Bayer, Harrison and Star, Novartis, Berkshire Magazine, TevaNeuroscience, and Webster Bank.

Sergio Villalba Canary Islands

"I'm a photographer, adventurer and surfer based in the Canary Islands. I'm passionate about blending travel and sports as part of the same story, and thus connecting companies to their audience.

Considering the growing demand for locations in the Canary Islands in the last few years, my extensive local knowledge is invaluable. I’ve been creating editorial, commercial and advertising content all around the world over the last 12 years for clients such as Nike, Red Bull, Hard Rock Hotels, Sunday Times Travel, Ralph Lauren and Cadillac Magazine.

I feel comfortable in any kind of photographic field, but it is outdoors where I fulfill my potential. Awards include the Travel Media Awards 2016 as best 'Travel & Tourism photography of the year' and PDN 'The Great Outdoors' 2016 winner."

Tony Pleavin London

Tony Pleavin has been a photographer for over 12 years; in that time he has been making natural and believable images for the travel, leisure and tourism industry.

While Tony is based in the UK, he works on commissions all over the world. He has produced engaging photographs for a wide range of clients, including travel and leisure companies, cruise lines, and national and regional tourist boards.

Where possible, Tony uses natural light to deliver believable and engaging images. He is comfortable working with and without models, alongside video crews, as part of a team, or solo.

Recent commissions included location shoots in Europe and the Indian Ocean for Fred.Olsen Cruises, in the UK for Haven Holidays, Warner Leisure Hotels and Visit Wales, and in Ireland for Tourism Ireland.

Other clients include The National Trust, P&O Cruises, Visit Britain and James Villa Holidays.

Veronica Verlan Moldova

Veronica Verlan is an adventure photographer based in Moldova. She began her career in action sports, but the farther the geography of her adventure went, the wider her field of work and interest became.

Snowboarding, biking or climbing did not present a powerful point of interest anymore – she wanted to place her favourite hobbies and athletes in specific environments, mostly in the wilderness and in the heart of nature.

Right now this is her way of discovering the world and integrating into those environments. Instead of staring at beautiful scenery, she prefers to keep moving around them and capturing people doing the same.
