London [UK]: Brian Stewart

Brian Stewart is a former high-profile and highly awarded London Creative Director, who worked on launches for Jaguar, Chrysler, Jeep, BMW and Land Rover. He started shooting as well as providing art direction for campaigns five years ago.

Brian is as comfortable with the creative development of a campaign as he is with taking the pictures. "I think like an Art Director. I can't take a photograph without thinking 'Where will the headline go?'"

Recent projects include the launch of the Toyota Rav 4 and Avensis, the launch campaign for the Jaguar XK8, and ongoing campaigns for Jaguar S and X types.

"OK, he can shoot cars," we hear you say, "but does he shoot anything else?". His current personal project is a book of the world's most peculiar trees.

London [UK]: Carl Lyttle car & transportation photographers

Photographer Carl Lyttle has recently been around the globe, travelling from Thailand to California, Canada, Turkey, Chicago and back to London, producing shots for clients including Nissan, Mercedes and Land Rover, amongst others. Almost all of these images have been created in CGI.

The images have been produced by working closely with the highly skilled 3D and retouching team at This Little Fish.

Chris Myhill's recent clients include Lexus in Brussels, Honda, Kia and Bentley in the UK, and Fiat in Turin. An interesting CGI project for VW saw Chris in action in Berlin, immersed in a spot of gardening with a VW Golf during the summer heat!

Most of his time has been spent in the studio, however a personal project saw Chris put on his hat and coat and venture outside to shoot construction cranes from various angles and heights. This project was picked up by Odd Girl Out Productions and used to illustrate a Channel 4 series.

With nineteen years of experience shooting cars, Chris still believes the idea of doing it for a living to be as fantastic as ever. "Digital photography has opened up an endless amount of interesting ways to achieve the end results."

Hamburg [Germany]: Conrad Piepenburg car & transportation photographers

Hamburg-based photographer Conrad Piepenburg began the year with a project for Lexus in Los Angeles.

He ended 2007 with a film shot in southern Spain for BMW. Shooting for all the major car manufacturers, he travelled virtually non-stop throughout much of last year.

Featured in this Spotlight are a selection of his pictures from 2007, shot on location in Shanghai, Los Angeles, and Monte Carlo.

Conrad Piepenburg is represented by his agents in the US, Spain, Argentina and Germany.

Amsterdam [Netherlands]: Diederik Kratz Photography advertising photographers

  • Pan-European Campaign for Organon Bioscience. Shot and produced in several locations across the Netherlands.
  • Editorial shoot for Sanoma magazine in Belfast, N. Ireland. Exploring the roots of the Delorean car and how it came to be built there in the 1980s.

  • Editorial shoot for Sanoma magazine. Shot the prototype of new Spanish Super Car Tramontana at the Autodrome Terramar/Sitges in Spain, an old racetrack dating from 1922.
  • Mitsubishi Grandis for Misubishi Motors Europe. Nine days spent shooting and producing on location in the Siërra Estrala mountains in Portugal, for the new pan-European brochures.

Cologne [Germany]: Erik Chmil car & transportation photographers

Automobile and architecture, people and places, advertising and editorial... an entire world of pictures. For several years, Erik Chmil has been creating what he describes as "a new picture language" for national and international agencies and automobile clients.

Since switching to high-resolution digital photography, Erik and his partner have managed the entire production process for each project - from the shoot to creative retouching through to printable data.

Photographer Lorentz Gullachsen has been busy shooting logistic images: a series of motorway images were commissioned by Propaganda for Cert Octavia, a premium logistics company.

Roads are an ongoing passion for Gullachsen, and an empty road is hard to resist.
"They promise adventure and make me want to put my foot down. Not always a good idea!"

Gullachsen has also been shooting more trucks for Mitsubishi with PHWT.

Manu Agah is a Hamburg-based car, landscape and portrait photographer who has been commissioned to shoot around the world for agencies and individual clients alike.

Photographer Paul J. Harvey's passion is his landscape work. A personal series he is currently shooting in Venice will soon be completed.

In conjunction with a post-production studio Paul has been using the latest techniques to generate CGI images. 3D automotive computer data and landscape elements are subtly blended together in retouch to look as dynamic yet as natural as possible.

Dutch photographer Peter Boudestein hails from Rotterdam, and is considered one of the Netherlands'  digital pioneers.

His specialism is car photography, but he is also an excellent all-round photographer with particular focus on boating, jewellery, and landscape shots.

Digital retouching is his personal skill, and he loves to play golf.

[Germany]: Romer Fotografie car & transportation photographers

Stephan Romer is a freelance photographer with over 17 years professional experience. For more than 10 years he has focussed his work on high-end car photography, with shoots taking him all over the world.

On location he loves working in extreme conditions, pushing the limits to get the best possible results. But, as the photographer himself says "Sometimes it's nice to have the light under control in the studio".

Some of his recent projects have included the Porsche Cayenne GTS, shot in Spain (Campaign and Catalogue), the Porsche "Modelle" range, shot in Chile (Campaign), and the Volkswagen After Sales Program (studio work).

An extraordinary project was the "United" shoot for the Volkswagen AG. A former military air base was the playground for 6 weeks of catalogue shooting. Graphic elements and shelters were the background for these unusual pictures. 120,000 watt/second of brand new BRON equipment transformed the whole area into a huge outdoor studio.

Hamburg [Germany]: Thilo Sicheneder car & transportation photographers

Thilo Sicheneder studied communication design and photography in Hamburg, Germany, before becoming a professional photographer in 2005. He is still based in Hamburg but travels around the world on commissions. Thilo is represented by Marlene Ohlsson, and is currently shooting in Bangkok.
