Since opening in May 2005, Home Studios Inc. has proved to be a highly versatile film, photo and event space. They have hosted corporate events, television commercials, television specials and dozens of photo shoots.
This 4000 square foot space with 14-foot ceilings is located on the corner of Broadway and 18th street with views of Union Square Park. It features a furnished loft area, a designer kitchen, an oversized bathroom set, a production office, a lounge and a wardrobe room.
The main space has floor-to-ceiling windows facing south and east, and an exposed brick wall. The state-of-the-art kitchen has a movable island with a detachable Viking range top. The kitchen can be lit from either the interior window behind the sink, the three sets of glass French doors or from overhead.
The space was designed and built by a partnership of three film industry veterans; Richard Piekos, a production designer, John Maher and David Fitzgerald both location scouts. There is also support space for hair, make-up and wardrobe, a client lounge and production area. The studio is a fully furnished daylight studio and can accommodate a 50-person film crew. There is an optional 1500 square foot holding area.
