    2018 was the most diverse year to date for Richard Thompson, shooting everything from luxury sedans for Audi to the Batmobile for Walmart’s 'Famous Cars' campaign.

    Spring and summer saw road trips for Mercedes-Benz and Jaguar, time spent off-road with Land Rover, and the use of a very special "full spectrum" camera to capture the equally rare machines of Monterey Car Week.

    Time in between was spent further exploring vibrant colour palettes and developing a new hologram painting technique to create them in-camera, culminating in a commission from Daimler's CASE research group to produce artwork for Mercedes-Benz's recently revealed EQ brand.

    A whirlwind 2017 saw Richard Thompson III step firmly into the world of electric cars with work on the 2018 Mercedes-Benz calendar and EQ Concept, as well as reveal imagery for California-based manufacturer Faraday Future.

    Back in the realm of combustion engines, Richard helped Chevrolet, Maserati, and Pagani craft reveal imagery for special editions. Summer was spent in his favourite place - the open road - creating social media libraries, including a first time brand collaboration for Adobe and Mercedes-Benz: a 1500-mile roadtrip through the American Southwest.

    The icing on the cake? His personal project for the year, Pagani Universe, became the brand's official calendar for 2018.

    Richard Thompson III’s lifelong passion for all things automotive inspires him to create images focused on the unique story and character of each car.

    The past few years have led him around the world in pursuit of automobiles. From international campaign work for Bentley, Chevrolet, and Lexus to the far reaches of the globe as a photographer and editor for Mercedes-Benz global social media platforms. He also found time to realize a decade-long dream: working as photographer and in-house creative for his favorite car company, bespoke Italian manufacturer Pagani Automobili.

    2017 has been another busy year for Richard, crafting imagery for the global reveal of Pagani’s Huayra Roadster at the Geneva International Motor Show, the North American debut imagery for the new Mercedes-Benz EQ brand, and most recently the Maserati’s Ghibli 'Nerissimo' on the streets of New York.

    Los Angeles based automotive photographer Richard Thompson III draws on a life-long love of cars to create high energy, atmospheric imagery for his clients. Trained at the Savannah College of Art and Design, his background combines elements of film, photography, and visual effects with a genuine passion for all things automotive. Raised in a family of car lovers, early experience in the racing world enables Richard to shape photographs bearing the essence and character of each car.

    2014 was a very busy year for Richard, creating imagery for clients including Bentley Motors, BMW, Chevrolet, Lexus, Mercedes-Benz, and Pagani Automobili.
