"I try to work with a fresh and natural approach. Food is messy, and making messy food appear delicious is the fun bit.

"Daylight or studio lighting, being part of a team on a shoot, working together with the food stylist, art director and prop stylist, this is my approach to work.

"My most favourite pictures are the ones that were the most collaborative. It is a real pleasure working with passionate food people. Oh, and we get to sample the food afterwards!"

Ruth Jenkinson is a London-based people photographer who shoots across the UK, Europe and the USA for advertising, editorial and lifestyle clients.

Passionate about lighting, Ruth loves making the babies, kids and grown-ups she shoots feel relaxed and comfortable in front of her lens. "I hugely enjoy what I do, and given the type of photography I shoot and all the different people and ages I work with, I think this really helps when it comes to capturing a natural, lasting image."

Myles New is a busy London-based food photographer who is as comfortable in his studio as he is out on location.
