Standa Merhout New York fashion photographers

Born in the former Czechoslovakia, Stanislav Merhout is influenced by the artistic atmosphere that radiates from across Europe. Stanislav's passion for photography developed at a young age and he opened his first studio at 25. His natural talent contributed to the explosive start of his career. 

Over a decade ago, Stanislav started as an assistant in New York at Pier 59. He later returned to Prague in 2000 to build his career as an independent fashion and advertising photographer. However, the Czech Republic quickly became too small for his ambitions, and in 2001 he signed a contract with Elle magazine and continues to grace their pages and covers with his work.

After winning the 2004 Canon Competition in Cayenne Amsterdam, his most recent work has involved collaborations with Harper's Bazaar Arabia, Harper's Bazaar Latino America, and Dolce Vita Magazine.

Now based in Brooklyn, he uses his travel experiences and his love for music and movies from the 1970's for his constant, evolving inspirations.

The Foundry New York Event & Production Venue

The Foundry is a 19th Century building where originally fine varnishes were manufactured before it housed The Albra Metal Foundry. By 1906, it was one of several steel foundries in the Long Island City area that catered to the needs of New York City's riverfront manufacturers.

By the 1970s, The Foundry was essentially an abandoned space, housing defunct vehicles and a mountain of debris. The Du Val family purchased the property in 1980. The family restored and renovated the space to reflect its original industrial character, and began hosting events in 2001. It is the only foundry in the area still standing.

Today, The Foundry is a raw space facility that is available to rent for photo, film, or video shoots, special events, weddings and birthdays.
