Portland: Darren Setlow

Darren is a commercial and architectural photographer living with his wife and two boys on the coast of Maine, near Portland.

Darren is known for capturing the essential sense of place of interior and architectural spaces, with detailed, careful compositions. His clients include home furnishings catalogs, hotels, architects, designers, builders, and magazines.

Darren also has extensive studio experience making inviting and aspirational images of bedding, bath, furniture, and accessories for clients such LLBean Home, Plow & Hearth, and Company C.

Equally at home in dynamic, location-based work, he’s been working in Charlottesville, Virginia with award-winning architecture and design firms such as Train Architects, Heidi Brooks Interior Design, and Folly C’ville.

Recent projects include four concurrent features in the July issues of Decor Maine, Maine Homes by Downeast, Zest Maine Magazine and the cover feature of Maine Home and Design.

Based in Portland, OR and Los Angeles, editorial and commercial photographer, Dina Avila has shot for publications such as The Wall Street Journal, Virgin Australia and Vogue Japan. Her commercial client list includes American Express, Nike, Hestan Commercial and others. 

Dina brings a focused yet warm energy to her sets, helping her subjects feel at ease. She is an enthusiastic collaborator and loves melding her ideas with those of her clients.

While Dina’s focus is food, lifestyle and interiors, she loves to travel while exploring local culture with her camera. Dina has a degree in Photo-communications from St. Edward’s University in Austin, Texas and has won the James Beard Award for Visual Storytelling.

Portland: Dina Avila

After earning her degree in Photo Communications at St. Edward’s University in Austin, Texas, Dina Avila spent several years photographing for award-winning photographers Jenn Lindberg and Bill Kennedy.

A desire to be closer to her family brought Dina to the Big Island of Hawaii, where she developed her photojournalistic eye and passion for visual storytelling while shooting for local newspapers.

After moving to Portland in 2007, Dina shifted her focus to editorial and commercial photography focusing on food, lifestyle, portraiture and architecture. She is a regular contributor to Eater PDX and has amassed a respectable client list which includes American Express, The Wall Street Journal, Nike, and Vogue Japan.

She is also winner of the James Beard Award for Visual Storytelling.

Michael Wilson has been involved in photography for 15 years. Much of this time was spent working as a photo assistant to celebrity and documentary photographer, Martin Schoeller, in New York City.

This job provided the absolute best hands-on training in photography, and took Michael all over the world - all while working for magazines such as National Geographic, The New Yorker, and GQ. Michael is now based in Maine and can often be found travelling around New England photographing people who are making positive impacts on the Earth.

Selected clients include Down East Magazine, Hypertherm, Sun Edison, Zest Magazine, American Craft Magazine, Maine Craft Association, Maine College of Art and The Cottage Journal.
