Since 1997, Ilja has been working full time as a photographer. Prior to this, he took a Master´s degree in Political Science, Social Anthropology and Economics, which may have influenced his kind of fieldwork approach to photography.

In 2005 he moved from Germany to Oslo. He speaks Norwegian, German and English.

His Scandinavian style makes for some truly elegant images. The series made the covers of D La Repubblica and Whitelies Magazine, featuring celebrity actors Lilly Collins, Anders Danielsen Lie and model Sophie Klock.

This summer, Monky brought the legendary sportscar Alpine on a road trip of around 1,400km through the Norwegian mountains, ending at the famous and spectacular Atlantic road. An amazing trip with an amazing car.
