Håvard Schei is an Oslo-based photographer specialising in people and portraiture, shooting advertising, editorials and profiles for artistic and commercial clients.

Clients include The Coca-Cola Company, Samsung, Toyota and Google, among others.

He has a huge passion for photography and loves to create stories. He dedicates his spare time to shooting personal projects. In his latest series, Håvard brought a large crew and two actors with him to some of the epic, ice-cold and snow-clad mountains of Norway, where he created the 'Winter Western', a cinematic story featured in this Showcase.

Håvard works all over the world and is as comfortable on location as he is in the studio doing complicated set-ups.

2017 was an exciting year for Monky, where projects led to exploring several beautiful areas of the long, stretched out coastline of Norway. Monky juggled projects from southern Norway all the way up at 79 degrees north in the Arctic area of Svalbard.

Among the exciting projects was Scotch & Soda's A/W 17 campaign, where fashion photographer Elisabeth Toll and film director Fleur Fortune wdre flown in to Svalbard. Handling a crew of 56 people, 14 cars, two horses, a dog, four armed polar bear guards, one ship and the occasional whale, Monky made sure everything went as planed.

Photographer Bela Adler brought a team from Spain to western Norway and produced some stunning work for the brand Stradivarius and its A/W 17 campaign.

Monky Productions was established 2004 and are today the leading photo production company in Norway.

Oslo-based portrait photographer, Håvard Schei, likes to put his subjects in a different role than what the everyday brings. "It often puts people at ease. Acting makes people more confident and can give remarkable results."

He did this with his last portrait series of Norwegian director and editor, Lars Sandbakken, all bulit and set up in his own studio in Oslo.

Håvard Schei is a storyteller and people photographer. He recently finished a project called 'My Oslo', in which he searched for the soul of the city through the stories of the small corner shop and the craftsman. It resulted in a beautiful and strong book, which has put him on the map of Oslo, as a true local.

Håvard says this is one of the more rewarding projects he has ever done. "To be able to tell the unique stories of these hard working craftsmen and portray their everyday was a true honour.”

He works out of his studio in Oslo but loves to travel into the unknown to find new stories to tell. Håvard's assignments are mostly people related and he has shot campaigns for brands such as Coca-Cola and Samsung, among others.
